Sorting content on group pages (question)

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi!

I've looked elsewhere and it looks like this might be the best place to get a response and discussion on this.

I've set up organic groups for an online gaming community. When they register their group it creates a basic info summary page about their group.

I'd like to keep the page/story content types enabled so their members (or leaders) can create that additional content. However, I'm experiencing difficulties trying to sort the content so that their initial page (info summary page) that they created upon group registration is permanently at the top of their group page.

The "views" module is on there and enabled but it is confusing. I don't know if that is the solution in this case. I've also tried "nodeorder" and "weight" modules, thought they seem very limited in functions. I'm not sure if it is a node/weight issue or something else. I've tried setting "sticky" to group creation pages and non-sticky to the content that is added afterwards but that isn't working.

I am only a beginner with Drupal's Organic Groups module, though I'd like to learn more in a user-friendly environment. I don't know coding.

Here is a sample:

http://stargate.commandcenter.cc/main/content/fifth-race

(Please forgive the somewhat incomplete condition of the site, as it is still "under construction".)

The content on that page currently has these sample entries at the top:
"Another Page"
"More Stuff About TFR"
"TFR Welcome"

And the original group creation content on the bottom, which starts with:
"Game & Group Type"

That should be automatically/permanently reversed so "Game & Group Type" is always on the top and content like "Another Page", "More Stuff About TFR", and "TFR Welcome" is always on the bottom.

Any ideas on how I can make it do that?

Even better, how to do that without the group leaders having to manually change things around?

If there are any resources I could be referred to to help me with learning about groups that'll be greatly appreciated.

I came across this: http://www.drupalove.com/drupal-video/organic-groups-basics (I'll be checking that out today).

I also came across this: http://drupal.org/project/panels (I don't know if that can be used just within groups but I think I saw someone refer to it).

Thank you!

"drupalove" og video

I saw this video:
http://www.drupalove.com/drupal-video/organic-groups-basics
...and it had new pages/stories that were added display as below the group node and group's summary info. The new page/story content was showing as on top of old page/story content but still below the group info section of the page. My groups aren't doing that. Is this because I set up "fields" (beyond the normal description)?

Total bummer... a group with over 300 members and nobody replies. :-(

not the best place for your question

you should post a support request to the organic groups module's issue queue ( http://drupal.org/node/add/project-issue/og ). You're much more likely to get an answer there. This group is for discussions of the groups.drupal.org site, not for random support requests. Good luck, og and views can be a little difficult to get your head around but once you do it will all seem easy

Thank you for the reply. I'm just going to check out the "lullabot" video.
