For the second year in a row, Google is putting on a Summer of Code Mentor Summit at their Mountainview Campus on Oct. 6, to allow all the projects to come together and share success stories, advice, lessons learned, and brainstorm about how to make the project better. Each project gets to send up to 3 delegates to the summit.
Here's the list of Drupal folks who will be attending:
- Rok Žlender, who was a successful SoC student turned successful SoC mentor, as well as just an awesome guy all around. :) Google loves getting to meet the faces behind their success stories. :)
- Ruben D. Canlas Jr., who is a Drupal SoC veteran, and has offered testing and useful advice to several students in the SoC-2007 group.
- Simon Hobbs, who is a SoC first-timer whose student couldn't say enough nice things about him, and who was very active both in #drupal-soc and in the SoC-2007 group providing advice.
Congratulations, folks! I'll be e-mailing you with the next steps. :)

Angie, did you give up your spot? :(
I did..
I was at the mentor summit last year, and have already been to Google campus twice now. It's good to get fresh perspectives in there, and it's also just freaking cool to see Google and meet all kinds of names from dozens of open source projects. Therefore, I didn't really feel comfortable hogging 1/3 of the spots when we have so many awesome mentors. :D
So have lots of fun!! :D
If I didn't admire you already
If I didn't admire you already, this act of generosity alone would make me a fan.

Cool community!
Hello folks, I just happened to stumble into this site today, and it's comforting to know there are plenty of kindred spirits out there in the wild, hehe. Anyways, I've just been 7 months into Drupal and I can say it's one great CMS (I've also tried the lightweight Wordpress).
I and my friends are members of Palawan People's Forum (PPF), a net-based group of Palawenyos from all over the world linked by internet. We maintain two sites, www.freepalawan.com and www.palawenyo.com. We are still relative novices with open source softwares, but we are willing to learn the works from savvy Drupal gurus here and elsewhere. We love open source and also use Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu in our PCs and laptops.
Ok, let's keep in touch.
