Hello -- anyone going to Drupalcon2010 SF?
Would you like to get together and discuss education projects?
Anyone working on an I3 grant proposal using Drupal?
Let's find a time and location to meet. Any suggestions?
Rose

great idea
I will be at Drupalcon. I don't know much about the venue, or SF, but I'm definitely interested in looking for a way to get together.
Would be great to share
Would be great to share thoughts about this topic and i think we could use the Birds of Feather session from Kyle Mathews, on monday 19, at 9:45am to 10:45 am, on room 212(http://sf2010.drupal.org/conference/birds-feather), to talk about it, because his project, Eduglu, is much about Drupal and education(is a social network for learning purposes) and it's likely that other Drupalers that work with education will be there.
Education BoF
Hello, all,
I'll be there, and am definitely looking forward to talking with education folks (and I include K12, Higher Ed, and Libraries in that; while these stakeholders have different needs, there are also some key areas of overlap).
There are a couple BoFs scheduled (Kyle's being one of them, and it looks like Scott Worthington has one in Room 206 on Tuesday, at 11). We should see what their plans are, and then either schedule additional meetups, and/or work the hallway track.
In the past, the BoF meetups were pretty ad-hoc, and I suspect that this DrupalCon will be comparable.
Cheers,
Bill

Interest here...
Hello all,
We've recently launched our main site in Drupal and are investigating Drupal as a possible option for replacing some of our current LMS tools. I'd love to hear about any others' experiences in this area during the conference.

Adam
Off topic
But love the home page on your site - that's a great visual.

I'm generally interested in
I'm generally interested in this area and will likely swing by unless I have a serious conflict.
The web development, content,
The web development, content, and design folks from CSU Monterey Bay will be at Drupalcon, so we all look forward to the BOF!
Eduglu session
On the Eduglu session -- what are people's thoughts about how to best structure it? My plan was to give a short demo of Eduglu (10 mins max) then spend the rest of time comparing notes of what people are already doing re: drupal and social learning, and plan how to combine forces.
Anyone have suggestions on how to help make the open sharing time as productive as possible?

strategy session?
It seems like there are a lot of diverse interests around education (library, k-12, higher ed, developing countries, museums, etc.) and it would be nice to get everyone together to share ideas.
I am thinking that it would be great to use that time as a general education session where all who are interested can get together, create a list of topics that they want to discuss and plan further meetings throughout the week.
Would it be possible to push the Eduglu part to the end of the hour or to another slot?
Just an idea.
switching sessions
I'd be fine switching my slot with Scott's. Are you around Scott? I agree that "Drupal in Education" means a great number of things of which Eduglu covers only a smallish portion.
So a strategy meeting first on Monday where we can create a list of topics and split up to plan further meetings sounds great. I'd appreciate knowing as well before I demo Eduglu a bit more about what people are interested in hearing.

I will try and make it
Our web team (two of us) from Fresno County Office of Education will be at Drupalcon. Our sites are mostly for departments and organizations associated with our Office of Ed. I will definitely try to join this group whenever this happens.

Created a wiki page to start getting organized on ideas
Hello, all,
I created a wiki page to start getting some of these ideas down: http://groups.drupal.org/node/62193
Edit away on that page! That will help us get a sense of what people want to talk about, and who wants to present, and in what format. We easily have enough interest/people/material for several sessions; how about we meet up on Monday morning to start to hash out the logistics of when sessions can happen?
Also, what do folks think about a Drupal Education meetup for dinner/drinks during DrupalCon? If there's interest, we can set a time for that when we're onsite - I have plans Tuesday night, but am pretty flexible for the other nights.

I'm down for a meetup
I'm down for a education/higher-ed meetup. I'm coming from the IT shop @ the College of Engineering, Michigan State University.
I think there are now 2 BoF sessions on the list: EDUGLU on Monday and Drupal at Universities and Colleges on Tuesday. I'll see what I can do about attending both. I'm always interested to see what others are doing to showcase some of the projects that we're working on.

I'll be there
Hello!
I'm Adam Jensen, development lead at the University of North Texas Central Web Support office; I also co-maintain http://drupaledu.org. Just wanted to chime in and say I'll be there, at least at the 11:00 session on Tuesday (I need to attend another session on Monday morning to help with a site I'm working on, or I'd be at that one too).
Thanks!
Adam
Be there on Tues
And I wish I knew about this group sooner! I am part of a team working on a website for professors and grad students aspiring to be professors. Want to get a lot of educational resources up, as well as some more interactivity, but don't know what is out there.
