Hi Everyone!
Thank you all for travelling all the way to Libis, to the office of IT Group, c/o Jan Pabellon, to trade tips and tricks on Drupal. Many thanks to Mark, who gave a demo of his Drupal best practices, to Loloy D., who brought food and drinks (and thus saved us from starvation) and Jeff and Lee of Dig It All Solutions (http://digitalsolutions.ph) for sharing their deep knowledge of Drupal.

Publicity sa mga meeting natin
I was just thinking na every time we finish a meeting, we can post some sort of news release to publications such as dailies and tech magazines. That way, the IT community will be aware that there is such thing as Drupal, and a corresponding local group. This can help us spread Drupal technology to everyone.
Yung lang: ang challenge natin dito is who can do the news release and have it posted to the publications...
:-)

Case-study of finished work
In an earlier post, I suggested a presentation of Drupal website work-in-progress. I just thought why not also have a case study of a finished Drupal website?
The moderator can ask those who are interested to present to first submit their Drupal website abstract. This will consist of an overview of the website, why Drupal was selected, what modules and themes were used, what customizations were done, and what challenges were faced.
From there, the moderator posts each Drupal website abstract and conduct a poll as to what Drupal website will be presented.
I think this could make our meetings more interesting.
Naisip ko din that in future meetings, we can perhaps video the whole proceedings.
:-)

sa Bacolod naman. :)
sa Bacolod naman. :)
I suggest that we send in our suggestions :-D
Aside from making our meet-ups longer in order for us to have more time to discuss things, I suggest that we set up a demo/sandbox Drupal website whereby guests can use Administrator access - catering to various Drupal versions. I know this has been done countless of times before pero, this way sana, we can support each other even when not in meet-ups by allowing us to show others how do to which and where to do what - while keeping the discussions here sana sa groups.drupal.org/philippines or wherever mas appropriate. I'll see if I can host this in my loloyd.com account. Pero mas maganda sana if we use a domain name reflective of our Philippines Drupal group. One thing to consider is to allow guest admins to tinker with enabling and disabling modules pero I doubt if we should be allowing uploads dahil baka nga naman may mag upload ng PHP script e di mabubutas ang security ng demo site natin. I believe many of us are willing to share our experiences with Drupal and, of course, more are keen to learn more. This Drupal demo site within our own control can further help us do just those things.
Other good things that may arise out of having our own demo site:
Wiki-ing the things we wouldn't normally be able to elsewhere. For example, we can wiki a CCK node type. Galeng di ba? Imagine the possibilities.
Increased scope in place and time. So hindi lang makikinabang ang mga nag-a-attend ng meet-ups, pati na rin yung mga nasa remote places sa Pinas at pati na rin yung mga natutulog sa pansitan.
We would also need a more detailed set of contact info than just that made available here in our groups.drupal.org/philippines account.
Every time I attend a local Drupal meet-up, I really get impressed. Ideally, we can hold monthly meet-ups sana but this would cost us some dough. Even setting up a dedicated Drupal demo site that caters to us would eventually require voluntary donations. Siguro we can start setting up a group fund na for these and other future purposes.
I may have said too much na. Sorry about that.

Presentation of work-in-progress...
Maybe we can have a portion were we can have a website work-in-progress presentation. This will have to be short (mga 5 mins lang) so that everybody who may want to present can be accommodated. From there, the group can provide suggested room for improvements. Malaki ang maitutulong nito, those with experience can pass on their knowledge to us, who are still starting with Drupal.

@ sofiya:

I like the name PhDrUG
I like the name PhDrUG - Philippine Drupal Users Group. Napapahalatang "far out, man" ang imagination ni Mr Kenneth.
Another suggestion - I hope more people attend the subsequent meet-ups. It is very interesting to see each of our best practices. For the next meet-up, maybe we can set up a tentative/open-ended agenda before hand - oops, we did this before na pala hahaha. Basta ang mahalaga sana ay mas mahaba-habang meet-ups. So siguro afternoon sessions, like starting at 1:30 PM or at 2:00 PM would be more ideal.

Whether-whether...
Whether it's Luzon, Visayas or Mindanao, I'm very glad that we are sharing same interest with Drupal.
Masaya rin na nameet ko ulit ang lahat last Saturday. Na-on-the-spot tuloy ako! Anyways, thanks nang marami sa mga umatend.
More power to Drupal PH group!
