As a Filipino...
As a Filipino, I think we could contribute more in the "Documentation" & "Marketing" aspects of Drupal.
But not to be overly ambitious, I think we could start by adding Tagalog, and further localize Drupal in our country.
Just imagine how much helpful (and cool!) it would be to relate with Drupal in our national language.
For me, the biggest challenge in the list above would be marketing since I've noticed that it's a riot industry, esp. here in our country.

btw, we started a tagalog/filipino translation in the early stage of drupal but didn't continue it because there's no really need for it. but if the majority here says otherwise, i still have a commit access to the repo and we can revive that project.

Hindi naman sa minamaliit ko ang ating lahi. Nasabi ko yun kasi masyadong restrictive ang technology sa Pinas.
Let's say for example I were to use the SMS module here, baka ipa-shutdown kaagad ung site nayun nang telecomm giants. And kung magtatayo ako nang sarili kong sms gateway, ipapatiklop naman ito nang NTC. Which is why I think that we could make a longer and better impression as the "care-taker" of information for Drupal. In addition to that, internet access and mobile communication is a luxury here in our country. Imagine how much we are paying for our landline, internet connection, sms & mobile costs na hiwahiwalay na bill pa? Tapos meron pang e-vat. Haayy.
Wala palang din akong maisip na idea sa ngayon na mapoproduce ko within the next 2 months. This is also one of the reason why I want to attend meet-ups and other events (hindi lang sa Drupal community) para malaman ko kung alinng issue ang dapat iprioritize.
Kung tatanungin naman ako, palagay ko magandang pagtuunan nang pansin ang usability features nang Drupal.

It's more proper to call it
It's more proper to call it Filipino and not Tagalog since we have incorporated many terms in other dialects into Filipino. I can seek help with my friends from the UP Departamento ng Pilipino for some translations, like user (i'm thinking kasapi = member, similar in meaning with user in Drupal terms). Terms like Captcha needs no more translations since it is not even in the English vocabulary, it's is more like a brand name.
Block = Bloke (not how the Aussies pronounce it, hehehe)
Throttle=Renda (pero parang Filipino slang ito eh)
Module = Modyul

I actually don't have a list of what items are available for translation. One thing I know is that when you look at many Drupal codes, the translatable items are those that have been passed as arguments in the function t().

if you want to use the sms module, i dont think na ipapasara ka ng mga telecom giants. that module connects to the sms http gateway of clickatell and for you to send sms/packets thru that gateway, you need clickatell credits which you have to pay. so if someone uses your site to send sms sa bansa natin, bumabawas yun sa credits mo sa clickatell at depende ang bawas na yun kung magkano ang toll charge ng local telecoms natin [see: http://www.clickatell.com/pricing/message_cost.php]. you see, hindi ka nila ipapasara dahil kikita sila na walang ginagawa. :)
kung magtatayo ka naman ng sarili mong sms gateway, hindi mo na kailangang magpahintulot pa sa NTC dahil value-added services ata 'to (im not sure though). what im sure though is, kailangan mong manligaw sa telecoms or possibly big amount of money to connect to a telecom's port. if you really want to play around with that kind of stuff, di mo na kailangang kumabit sa telco, all you need is a gsm modem or the ever reliable nokia 5110 and download kannel or smstools. :)

Kenneth, thank you sa feedback mo tungkol sa sms gateway. I guess our technology here would face a big paradigm shift. Siguro mga 10 years from now naman magiging maganda na ang I.T. framework natin. Let's just hope for the best.
Sorry guys, but as far as translation is concerned, it's still part of the "Documentation". All vocabulary and terms used are documented, standardized, and shall pass a certain criteria of usage. In short, it's still for the PH Drupal community rather than Drupal itself.
It's hard to admit that it would be challenging to create an idea that would benefit the Drupal development community if we are look at it in a Philippine-based perspective. But then, I certainly think we have an edge at something else that we are grateful of.

So far, heto ang resulta ng ating discussion:
Agree tayo na hindi lang purist Tagalog ang translation -- it should be in Filipino (which means combination of what works). When we were doing this effort dati, we also discussed this issue and we all agreed that the objective is to make a usable translation that Pinoys could use. We are not Tagalog purists.
Kenneth and Marc's discussion should make it clear for us that we aspire to be top contributors for Drupal.
Kenneth, nakanino na yung translations? Paki-post dito or send to the interested people.

Salamat marc sa suggestion sa potx module, susubukan ko ito. Meron na rin isa pa akong nakausap na handang tumulong sa translation, kaya tatlong tao na and kasama sa grupo maliban pa sa mga proofreader na tutulong sa paglilinis ng mga translations.
Self-imposed timetable ko ay March next year tapos na ang translation pero kung mas marami sasali ay sana mapabilis pa.
