Hello all! After meeting a lot of cool guys at our 2nd Drupal meet, I took the urge of creating a Filipino Drupal image.

Here's what I've done so far:

Only local images are allowed.

I used our native salakot to emphasize being a Flip.

wow!

very nice! i like it! idikit na sa t-shirt ito! btw, ano ang license? can i grab this and use as the Philipine Drupal User Group avatar in Facebook? thanks!

ano kaya... which license should I apply?

marcrobinsone's picture

Thanks Kenneth.

Di ko pa alam kung i-aappply ko ang creative commons license. But, generally it's going to be gpl since it's Drupal.

Anyways, here's the hi-res version. That's still hot-off-my-laptop.

If you have logo suggestions where I could base my design, pls. don't hesitate to mention it here.

Great work Marc!!! Can I

Great work Marc!!!

Can I make a small suggestion. Why not change the infinity eyes of Druplicon into the Philippine flag - like seeing the world through a Filipino perspective. The use of salakot is perfect.

Simply WOW!!! My suggestion for the logo name...

Ang galing!!! I'm totally at a loss for the right words to compliment the Pinoy Drupal logo.... :-)

Ei, suggestion ko lang: I think it would be cool to name the logo Juan dela Drupal.... :-)

I was thinking that it might be a good idea to have car stickers with the logo also.... :-)

Life is a box of chocnut, you never know if its durog or not

We deserve a Pinoy Drupal

Thanks for the compliment guys! It's very touching.

Which is why I'm on my way to creating a Drupal icon with a Philippine flag reflected on his infinity eyes, just like what DL suggested. And instead of holding a flag, it would be a "thumb's up".

I'll finish it over the weekend, so stay tuned!

marc.robinsone

p.s. pls keep the suggestions coming.

Astig! Now that's what I call innovation.

Congrats Marc! :-) More of this please!

Voila! Latest modifications now available

marcrobinsone's picture

Here are the versions I was able to produce over the weekend.

Drupal with a Flag reflected on his infinity eyes.

Plain:
Only local images are allowed.
Reflected (dark):
Only local images are allowed.
Reflected (white):
Only local images are allowed.
Dark-Shaded:
Only local images are allowed.

But if you ask me I still prefer the first one:
Only local images are allowed.

Tell me what you think.

Flag-waving flip

loloyd's picture

I also prefer the flag-waving Flip. This can also be easily ported to other nationalities - excepting the salakot hat of course, which is somewhat a national symbol.

I think the sunglasses effect do not fit well - the stick thingy that goes from the right eye to the invisible ear.

Only local images are allowed.

Asteg... pwede ko po ba gamitin ito sa site ko?

http://www.pinoycallcenter.com

Yes you may.

marcrobinsone's picture

I created this version of Drupal logo, however, the original creator of the Drupal logo is Steven Wittens.

I asked permission from him personally and he mentioned na pwede.
Definitely the same right applies to anyone who wish to use it.

In short, pwede mong gamitin. :)

Lesser colors, simpler, cost-friendlier

loloyd's picture

As I read the thread regarding the formulation of the original Druplicon, I remember the powers that be (read as decision makers) saying that they prefer the icon to have only a small number of colors in it - meaning less or no gradients, the better. This would help in replication efforts, for printing to paper, textile, glass, wood, steel, concrete, etc. on whatever medium available. The lesser "colors" or shades there are, the more cost-friendly and easier it is to replicate the icon - down to its original hues. This paradigm also supports the KISS principle.

I think there are only 4 shades (or colors) to contend with in the original Drupal icon, white excluded.

Only local images are allowed.

I understand

marcrobinsone's picture

Naiintindihan ko na masmakakatipid tayo sa resources kapag tinipid natin sa kulay.
Susubukan kong gumawa ng less color, kahit 8-bit lang.

Sum of colors:

4 colors from Druplicon (blue, darkblue, lightblue, white)
2 additional colors for the flag (red, yellow)
2 colors for the salakot (brown, black)

Does this sound good to you?
