I'm looking for a group of Malaysian Drupaliens, who would like to work on a collaborative project in setting up a Society herein Malaysia, not only for Malaysians but also for the World Community.
The site project should be multi-lingual : most likely the basic three main languages of the World - English / Malay / French. If we do have someone from Malaysia who can undertake Arabic, and Mandarin, they're most welcomed.
The current backend is obviously Drupal, and should reflect the best of what Drupal can offer not only in terms of a CMS, but also the term which I've coined what Drupal can become - the Better SMS {Social Management System}.
The domain has been registered, and is currently hosting in Malaysia - We're currently on a shared hosting, but will migrate to a VPS, and thereafter a Dedicated when the need arise. The group has been created in Facebook and currently have about thirty plus non-technical members, and we're looking at making this a truly international project with Malaysians {and non-Malaysians} undertaking as Pioneer Team. Should you be interested, please post your interest, and the skills you can ... propose and volunteer to make this a world-class undertaking.
Since the project is on a volunteer basis, all pioneer members will be part of the Organisational structure of the Society. This project is an International Project, and my posting {opening} it here, is to encourage Malaysians to come forwards and undertake it.
In closing, I would like to wish all {Malaysian} Drupaliens, a blessed Eid Adha Sa'eed, Joyeux Noel & Bonne Annee, and a Reflective New Year 2008.

Do you already have the development plan? Shared hosting may not workout, need higher PHP memory_limit if you are trying to install many module esp. the OG & location. Try Devel module to investigate.
I would like to organize our 'get-to-know' session in jan 5. Will post this later. maybe you can present your project. Get comments and maybe participation from the rest?

AsidrA is a Non-Governmental Organization, for profit making to sustain its activities through Chapters throughout the world. Inter-governmental projects are nation based and are especially created depending on the needs of each country, in areas where it is needed most in the socio-economic & cultural sectors attaining distinction.
Sounds good enough for you ? If it does, it'll be cool to work together. I've mentioned the members at Facebook, I'm now trying to team a team from Drupal Malaysia, to set things up and get things going. As I've said earlier, Pioneer Team members get to sit and be part of the Board {Committee / or Main Board} and mold the directions.

Thank for the long and detailed reply. So I take it that AsidrA is an NGO that is concern about social responsibility and organize events/activities based on the needs of the respective local chapters? Btw, what does AsidrA stand for or mean? Can't seem to infer the acronym of the meaning of the word from what you explained.
Anyway, count me in, I'm willing to provide Drupal assistance to setup AsidrA's online presence. But to be in the Main Board and determine the future directions of the organization as well as taking part in activities, that I cannot commit myself fully. Maybe not yet, we'll see.

Hi all,
My name is nizam and currently developing MalaysianNetwork at www.malaysian.net.my.
This is a personal project on a very small budget (ie, one man on part time basis). It is more of a platform for me to try out new technology such as RIA (Rich Internet Applications), ajax etc. The eQuran and Bloggers modules are developed using RIA.
Started drupal few months back as my first forray into open source, learning php, mysql, google api etc.
Just wondering what is the status for the collaborative project?
Hope to be able to join any future gathering in KL.

We've got about 70 odd members from the world over - majority are foreigners, with about 5 Malaysians only {sad, but this is the reality} anyways..
Since I couldn't make it to the recent Drupal meet I didn't have the option of meeting up with Drupal members to talk about this Collaboration. AsidrA is still on hold at the moment - although membership is growing. I am waiting for interested personalities from the Drupal community who might want to be part of the IT Backend Team for the Society.

Need to be in touch with a group now - so far we don't have many devs who are drupaling - If you're on facebook, please look at the AsidrA Group at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7326871993 - considering joining it and msg me at FB, stating your interest as the Support Team. You will then be part of the PT {Pioneer Team} working together with others, to make this Society, truly a global venture.
I'm looking at revamping the whole thing - instead of working on the existing - to start afresh with v6.0, and add only the necessary interactive modules that will make the platform feasible for the Society. We need to have this platform ready before we can make it public.
Would appreciate if you're interested to state your skills here, and also when's the best time to meet up, maybe either in Kuala Lumpur, or somewhere in Mutiara Damansara, in Petaling Jaya.
