Just require a small help. I have seen many social networking sites like linkedin.com ask you to invite your friends to join and they just need you to login to google, yahoo or msn through a small box on their site. When you login an email is automatically sent to all your address book members inviting them to join. How does this work ?
Is there any module or api integration available for drupal social networking sites.

We used third party software for ifood.tv
We used a third party software to do this, which is avaiable for like $50. However integrating that software with Drupal was a challenge. It works on our site ifood.tv but I would also be interested in learning better ways to do it.

Meanwhile, it would be interesting to know how actually is it done ? I mean is there any Google API etc. or what ?
Plaxo Widget
I've seen some sites use this widget from Plaxo, http://www.plaxo.com/api/widget. I am planning on use it for some sites I am working on, if not the contact list importer module.
