The short version of problem:
After updating Content Profile, the Drupal core "add user" link (user/user/create) and the "edit member profile" (profile/profile/1) both give Page Not Found errors. When I disable Content Profile, "add user" functionality is returned.
No new modules were added; only module updates of modules that were all playing nicely together. The Content Profile nodes are unaffected -- they still display fine.
Numerous times, I have tried uninstalling (through module page) Content Profile, deleting the Content Profile module folder, and even deleting the reference to Content Profile in the Systems db table. After which I try reinstalling the module. Issue persists. I've now updated core several times: 6.17, 6.18/6.19, so that is a fresh core.
I don't know if I am getting a clean uninstall; if that could be the problem. I had been using the 6.x-1.0-beta4. I'm trying to get back to 6.x.-1.0 (since the beta seems to have screwed my site!).
In what other tables would Content Profile be writing references?
I have posted to the Content Profile issue queue and the recommended g.d.o. support forum, and asked several times on IRC. I have had no response. It has been weeks. Client site heavily depends on this module, as it is a member organization with the Membership Directory being a key feature. Creating a workaround will be time-consuming.
I'll gladly pay someone to help resolve.
Thank you!

Thanks for the reply,
Thanks for the reply, Mike.
But, of course I did those things...many, many times over.
back up and check your path aliases and clean URLs?
Try it with the q= format (or just disable clean URLs) and check the aliases table q=admin/build/path ?
No difference. Problem
No difference. Problem persists.
I cannot believe that I am going to have to do a complete work around to this freakin' module. It is going on my "support?-what-support?" list alongside Ubercart.
(I appreciate you all trying
(I appreciate you all trying to help. I meant support from developer/maintainer.)
Check the web server log
See what the web server is logging as the true item that is 404, it might shed some light on which module or component is involved.
also check the site event log
admin/reports/dblog ?
I have the same problem
Any advise?
Lucky for you that you found
Lucky for you that you found my post. I did FINALLY figure out the problem (with absolutely no help from the module developers/maintainers sigh). It was the Date and/or Calendar module. Odd since neither interacts with the Content Profile module.

Notice that the module developer hasn't responded to these posts.
I still have this problem
Hiya - I am still quite a newbie to drupal and I had the content_profile working OK, but along the way of installing other modules etc, including the date and calendar modules, I have 'lost' the profile_content module.
I have tried uninstalling other modules, updating, deleting cache and re-installing the content_profile to no avail. It appears in the 'module' area and I check the boxes and save. However, the link just won't then appear via the administer>user management to 'profile' so I am at a real loss.
Ironically this is the only helpful information I have found on this subject, so whilst it hasn't worked for me, at least I am not alone with this problem.
Hey ho...any help gratefully received!
Best regards...Chris...
You sure that you read my
You sure that you read my post right before yours? Sounds like the exact same problem that I had and then posted resolution.
Check out a issue post reporting the problem, which includes my solution: http://drupal.org/node/905868
and question.
....not that the developer bothered to respond to the post.
