I would like to open the discussion for the next drupal camp 2010. I was not able to participate in the Summer meetup so I'm hoping to see you all who attended there before the year ends. I'm also excited to be part of another drupal camp event! I hope you are too!
Our team at Promet will be participating and helping in any we can. We had a bit of challenges last year due to time constraint so I'm hoping we could make this even better (and more exciting?) by having the group participate as early as the planning stage.
So the questions off the top of my head:
1. what kind of topics you would like to hear?
2. volunteers?
- design. need to revamp the site and have a new logo for this year
- organization
- speakers (can be asked later since we dont have topics yet)
3. suggest the best date and time for the event (same date last year?)
4. improvements you would like to see on this camp?
5. other thoughts?
I have great experiences in attending camps here in Chicago so I have more ideas to share! :)
As for the questions above, here are my thoughts
1. I saw a camp where they divided their topics into 2 tracks: business and developer. I like this setup.

4. I want to hear your thoughts on this. I have not had a chance to ask you guys so Im asking now. I wanted to have the event recorded last year but unfortunately we were not able to (we tried though). Also, a bigger venue? Smaller shirts? (I remember someone from twitter that they wish the shirts were smaller.) I also learned what BoF are for and I think this is an awesome idea to have in the camp.

I think it's time to make advance topic. Focus on server side performance. Having a hundreds of nodes is really hard maintain and make the site faster. Also ecommerce sites should be discuss (ubercart).

Im not sure about server optimizations and performance tuning on Windows. Mostly pang-Linux yung mga nababasa ko (for obvious reasons hehe).. Pero sana meron kahit isang naka-experience :)

@Jeff: Thanks for reminding the team about the 2nd meetup + discussions. We are still pushing for another meetup soon. Hindi lang natuloy last August kasi ang daming events na agaw-attention last month.
@Rachel: We're excited to hear your plans. Based on the previous meetup, a wide range of topics are really of interest to the group -- but finding more speakers is a problem. If we can figure this out before the Camp date, that would be awesome.
@Everyone: Tuloy po ang second meetup. We're just waiting for things to calm down after the many colorful incidents last August (you know diba?).

We should have a place where interested speaker can post/send his topics. And the organizer can either create a poll or internal selection what topics will be presented in the camp and notify the speaker before the events.

for the speakers, let's create a new thread for the speakers topic submission alone? is there better feature using this group to have those listed? people can always opt to talk partner or group.
we always want a wide range of topic but as marcky said, finding speakers to discuss those is the real problem. This is the reason also why I had to bring this up as early as this month kc last time I had difficulty finding people. If we can only invite neighboring countries that would be awesome diba???

no 2010 drupalcamp
FYI guys. there will be no drupalcamp 2010 (from me unless someone else plans this). Instead, we are preparing for a smaller drupal meetup on Dec. 3 (friday) evening. I'm still waiting for confirmation from G2iX techbar if they can sponsor the venue again before I post the details.
Hopefully i'll have G2iX approval soon.
Drupalcamp 2011 (january) is being prepared.....

drupal camp - more organized event but still not as organized as a real conference.
drupal meetup - less organized event. para ka lang nkipag meet with your friends.
topics - still being discussed with other members. more likely it's going to be for intermediate to advance users.
