I've modified logintoboggan to allow separate login and registration links for usability improvement. Please review the patch.
This may also be a good idea for Drupal in general - please categorize it under the right place.

I think it would be nice if
I think it would be nice if LoginToboggan became the start for a login/registration workflow API. Currently, it is not possible to make it work with modules like OpenID or FbConnect without customizing the code. Maybe it can incorporate the OAuth module also. The use case may be soiled again into its own solution with proposed Twitter Connect module.
