Tools to use for translation collaboration

I've just started the Scots translation of Drupal and made a wee site with l10n_server on it. My intention is, for the latter site, to have it also become a unifying point for people involved with Scots localisation in other parts of the FOSS community (I've made contact with an Ubuntu translator, for one). But, to whichever extent it's going to be used - just for Drupal or for Everything™ - it'll need some tools. Having just started out on this, I still haven't decided completely on which tools I'll want/need, so I wanted to take this up with you lot. Which tools to you need and use?

  1. A terminology database/dictionary is, of course, essential. Something more dynamic than a plain page/node would probably be best. Perhaps something like glossary/G2 Glossary? Or an inventive use of taxonomy? What have you done?
  2. Forums are also an obvious addition. I personally find that this is done well enough with the core module, but what do you think? Do you find you need to use other modules to extend on forum.module? Do you use any hacks or code snippets for the forum?
  3. Language links. Dictionaries, other translation sites, interesting sites in the language of the project, etc. would be good to link to. Are any of you utilising such link databases? If so, how? A contrib module? CCK?
  4. And I'm sure there are many other things one could include on such a site. What do you use, apart from the above? Why and how does it work?

For the Norwegian server we already had an English - Norwegian Drupal dictionary which was started while working on translations in the old way, with po-files. Actually I'm not sure how that's implemented -- whether with a glossary module or a CCK content type -- but each word has its own node, with its own comments, so that we can discuss specific words separately.

We're also using the forums on a pre-existing community site. The translation server has a block with recent feeds from relevant forums (including from the Norwegian group here on g.d.o.).

Relevant links are just listed in a book page on the community site, plus there's a block with the most important ones on the translation server.

Since we already have Norwegian community sites (two, in fact, for various reasons), it makes sense to keep all content except the translations on those other sites. When translation.drupal.org appears, we can then just copy over the translations and kill the Norwegian translation server.
