North West UK
Drupal NWUK meets on the first Wednesday of the month and features expert help, discussions and demonstrations. Bring your Drupal questions and problems, as well as any projects you'd like to demo. We meet in MadLab, in the northern quarter of Manchester.
We usually have a mix of a quick talk followed by a questions and chat with the option of moving on to a pub for refreshment!
Keep an eye on this group and also http://www.drupal.org.uk for announcements.
The group has its own site at http://nwdrupal.org.uk/ and there is also a Google group (http://groups.google.com/group/nwdug) you can join.
There's often plenty of us to be found in #drupal-uk on irc.freenode.net. Jump in and say hi! We're a friendly bunch!
US hosting vs UK hosting
Similar to last post I'd also like to hear what people have to say about using US based hosts for serving mostly UK targeted sites? Is there anything to consider (with the exception of obvious time delays for support)?
Thank you
Stephen
AWS - Amazon Web Services - Accessing servers on a mac using SSH and public/private keys
Hi everyone
I've been using AWS (Amazon Web Services) and their EC2/Cloud Formation services for the past week and have been testing the instant Drupal sites via the Cloud Formation. After much trial and error I have everything working with the exception that I am unable to upload/download files to the server as it requires SFTP utilising public/private key pairs. I've done everything possible and have viewed umpteen articles in relation to this but still cannot find any answers on how to do this via my mac.
Take me to your leader
Hello!
I'm trying to get input and feedback into the creation of a UK Drupal Association that will help and enable the regional Drupal user groups in the UK. Who is currently organising Drupal events in the North West? I'd like to get their input.
(Everyone else is entitled to give me feedback and input too, just that I suspect that any association will effect event organisers negatively the most, so would like to ensure that it doesn't as much as possible by talking to them!)

Help required - moving drupal site off server to localhost on Linux laptop
Hi all, I'm a drupal newbie and not super technical. Working as a part-time web assistant in Manchester and the role is requiring more technical knowledge than I have so would really appreciate some help! Basically the organisations current site has been recently migrated to Drupal and is installed on an old server which is unable to cope with the current basic and user-unfriendly site we have, not to mention the additional functionality I want to install with new modules and themes (lots of other stuff living on the server aswell).
hi, drupal NW!
Hi,
I am fairly new to drupal, but I am currently a senior progress open edge analyst programmer.
I am in the process of starting my own company and I'm very interested in drupal. I'm working on A couple of my own projects and also a few small web sites to get started as well as hosting and seo.
Is it worth me coming to one of your meetings? I haven't got any issues as such or anything to contribute, but I would like to get myself into the drupal community.
My aim is to get enough income to run my business full time...but that's besides the point.
Cheers,
Paul.
Drupal Multisite??? Shared cck fields???
I'm not sure if this is simple question or not, but I'm a little bit confused.
I am planning on developing 4 drupal sites that are essentially pretty much the same in terms of what they do, they will look different but will more or less do exactly the same job as each other with the odd exception. What I'd like to know is if it is possible to feed the sites from the same database and most importantly can the sites share the same cck fields 'if and when' they are required, or do you need to either share all fields or non at all?
Drupal Designer/ Programmer | Simpson Direct
A marketing company in Liverpool City Centre is looking for an experienced Drupal designer/programmer to help with porting an existing website (based on a bespoke CMS) to Drupal.
The site is mostly a static content site, however there are various dynamic elements (written in PHP/MySQL) which will also need incorporating into the site.
The following related experience would be beneficial for this:
• Creating a Drupal theme from an existing brief/design
• Incorporating Webfonts (e.g. Cufon) into Drupal theme
Migrating data to CCK field in D6
Hoping someone might be able to advise. I'm trying to migrate data from an old site across to my drupal site. Ive pulled the data out from Access (dont ask) and now have it sitting in the drupal mysql database. Ive used table wizard to draw the data out and check it via a view which works nicely however when trying to use Migrate Ive now come un-stuck due to the change to Migrate V2 which has no UI (certainly not for drupal 6 anyway). Im just not upto the level of being able to use migrate v2 comfortably and was hoping someone might be able to point me in a new direction?

MANCHESTER DRUPAL LUNCH UP - WHO'S IN?
So it seems I am not alone in finding evenings, paricularly Fridays impossible to handle for the North West Drupal user group. Mark Hope [http://twitter.com/markhopetweets] has the same issues.
What if I were to propose a shorter lunch break style casual Drupal meet up in central Manchester? Would anyone be interested? We could elect a cafe and just socialise, talk Drupal and share knowledge, advice. I am pretty sure some of my team would be up for it but what about other Drupalers in Manchester?
North West Drupal Usergroup Meetup July 2011

Drush & Drush Make on Mac- How to setup and use 'Drush Make'?
Hi everyone
Another question for anyone out there that understands 'Drush Make'.
I have Drush setup (Mac OSX) and am pretty competent in using it. The issue I now have is that I'm a little unsure as to how to get 'Drush Make' working which I require to save time on Drupal site setups. I've looked for videos etc (this is the way that I managed to get Drush running correctly) but have been unable to find a good example that I understand.
Does anyone know of an absolute idiot proof tutorial or perhaps can post an easy to follow guide?
Any help will be much appreciated
Thank you
Hierachical Location Fields
Hi
I'm new to Drupal and have been pulling my hair out now for quite a few days now trying to configure something that I would have imagined to be a very basic requirement.
All I need to figure out is how to create some kind of hierarchical field select system for locations in this instance. For example I have UK Counties (taxonomy), I would then like for arguments sake to select West Midlands and then a second field should dynamically show all the towns in the West Midland's area to enable the user to select one.
