Utah

Welcome to the Utah Drupal Users Group!

Utah is a state in the western part of the United States with some of the world's best ski slopes. Salt Lake City is the state capital.

This group is intended to teach about Drupal, help with installation and collaborate in customization and development of new functionality (modules, themes and so on). All comments and questions are welcome. Please feel free to join this group.

If you use irc you may want to join the #drupal-utah channel to discuss Drupal with local folks.

Follow news about the Utah Drupal group on @drupalutah or news specific to Drupalcamp Utah on @drupalcamputah.

There is a meetup in the Salt Lake City area at the Walker Center (200 S. Main St., Salt Lake City, UT) on the second Thursday of each month.

Using "Front page" view: private vs public content

All:
I am attempting to use the "Front page" view to filter for public/private content. I created a taxonomy called "Visibility", with two terms: "public" and "private". I've added this to the "Article" content type. I want articles labeled "private" only to show up for authenticated users.

I enabled the "Front page" view, and adjusted the following settings:

  • Under "Filter Criteria," added "Content: Visibility (<> Private)" and set it to "This page (override)".
  • Page settings > Access > Role > anonymous user

Best registration system (no $$ collected) ?

We need a better registration system for our free computer software classes/workshops at our library. I also want to use it to demonstrate the power of D7, and the value of moving from a home-grown CMS to Drupal. What combination of modules do you find work best for this situation? We do not need to collect money in any way, just:
* allow participants to register and un-register
* post documents and files to download and print (handouts, etc.)
* search by workshop/class title, content (Windows vs Mac, etc.)
* see list of all classes sortable by title, OS, date

RE: Drupal Developer | Romney For President

It seems one can't reply to job postings... anyway, spoke with Liza (liza@oho.com) who posted this job and I wanted to clarify to the group that they are hiring for Downtown Salt Lake City. It does mention that in the posting but when you go to the website it lists the jobs as Boston.

Favorite theme for both mobile and desktop sites

Greetings everyone,
I am now building a site for my director that she wants both mobile and desktop computer layout for. What themes, or combinations of themes, do you recommend for out-of-the-box functionality in this area? I need to be able to make the layout match University of Utah standards (colors, headers & footers mostly) without a lot of complex CSS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

May Salt Lake DUG Meetup - Thursday May 10th

Start:
2012-05-10 07:00 - 08:30 America/Denver
Organizers:

Time again for a DUG meetup in Salt Lake. We will be holding it at the Walker center (just like every month). Signs will be placed to direct you on how to get up to the conference room where we will be (usually by calling to have someone come let you in). If you are there at 7:00pm we usually wait for a few minutes for people to show up before we enter.

preDUG Meetup

Start:
2012-05-10 05:30 - 06:50 America/Denver
Organizers:

Starting this month we will be having pre-meeting meet ups. Yes, more cowbell... but in Drupal form. This will be similar to what other groups are doing with "mentored training" before their DUG meetings. But less structured. This is an optional social gathering prior to our regularly scheduled DUG meeting. Bring your laptop, questions and your expertise because the purpose of this gathering is to share ideas and help others with theirs... and of course socialize.

24 hr vs 12 hour: how to switch?

I have created a content type called "Event" and added a "Date" field to indicate the date and time. I cannot seem to force it to display time options in 12-hour instead of 24-hour view, whether I use a "popup calendar" or "select list" widget.

Forcing new page into specific menu

I have created a new content type ("Collaboration Space") that is a basic page plus a field for uploading files. Whenever a user creates new content using this type, I want it to go to a specific menu location (item in the main menu) without the option to change it. Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it?
Thanks in advance!
