Our popular Getting Started with Drupal series will be moving to a more formal setting in early 2011. Andy and Scott will be offering a structured beginning Drupal course at The Lifelong Learning Center here in Missoula.

Build A Powerful Custom Website With Drupal

You already know that Drupal is a powerful, free software to help you build any kind of website for yourself or your organization. Drupal runs some of the Internet's most high-profile websites including Whitehouse.gov. Learn how to harness the power of Drupal and its community of supportive users to build and manage a website of your own.

Date and Time

This course will run Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00 beginning January 25, 2011 and ending February 24, 2011.

Meeting dates include:

  • Tuesday, January 25
  • Thurday, January 27
  • Tuesday, February 1
  • Thursday, February 3
  • Tuesday, February 8
  • Thursday, February 10
  • Tuesday, February 15
  • Thursday, February 17
  • Tuesday, February 22
  • Thursday, February 24

During these 30 instructional hours, you'll have the opportunity to build a Drupal site in class and, of course, practice all you want after class. Andy and Scott will be team teaching this course meaning that you'll gain the benefit of Andy's vast Drupal knowledge and still get to bask in the glow of Scott's good looks.

Cost and Registration

The cost of the class is $123 plus the cost of the textbook (TBA), but early registrants can get $5 off. To register, please visit The Lifelong Learning Center's website or call 406-549-8765.

Why?

Why, you may ask, are we setting this schedule and charging a fee for what used to be free? Good question.

First of all, the gig's not up. The Western Montana Drupal Group will still continue to meet and grow. Andy and Scott, along with the help of the rest of Missoula's budding Drupal community, will continue to offer as much free education and socializing as possible. After much discussion, however, we felt like moving a structured Drupal course to The Lifelong Learning Center would accomplish two things:

  1. Their marketing efforts could help spread the word about Drupal and available local Drupal education to those who may be, as of yet, unaware of our Drupal group and meetings.
  2. When people sign up for a structured class and pay even a small amount of money for that class, they are much more likely to attend regularly, thus improving the continuity of the educational experience for all attendees.

So, we'd love you to be there. Almost everyone in our group could benefit from this class. But, if you can't be there, that's fine too. We still want you to be a part of the Drupal Group, and we'll still offer as much help as we can to anyone who needs it. Let us know if you have any questions.

PS - Please share this information with any of your local friends who may be interested. We'll need a minimum number of students in order to hold the class.
