I've been working on the web for almost 8 years now. Most of my skills have come from designing my own sites/communities and just running with them. I have built many different client sites as well, but my main passion had remained with taking an idea and building a community on it. Now that I have found Drupal for rebuilding my main community site and consequently fallen in love with it, I'd like to work with other developers within the Chicago Drupal community.
I was using Craigs List for the past few weeks in order to look for Drupal teams hiring in the Chicago Land area, but then it hit me that the Chicago Group is probably the best place to simply ask. So with that in mind, are there any Chicago Drupal based firms looking to hire a newbie Drupal guy with the experience of 4 years Social Network, design, and marketing experience? I know I'm a bit green to Drupal, but I have worked with and build on almost all CMS platforms including Wordpress, Nuke, Pligg, Expression Engine, Joomla, and more.
My crash coarse experience in Drupal has come from taking my own 30,000 membership strong community and converting 5 years of content to Drupal 6. While this doesn't account for all things in Drupal development it did give me a solid look at themeing, modules, development, and backend. I've learned just how powerful Drupal can be for rapid development and to be honest, I'm addicted. So if any teams are there are looking to add someone with a passion for the platform and the experience of building and running large online communities, please feel free to respond. If not, I'd just like to use this post as a discussion for how you all got involved with Drupal and found your place within Chicago's large group of working Drupal Developers. Thanks for the time.
