An instructor at Highline CC is lining up speakers for her class on Emerging Technologies, but so far she's only lined up men. She's hoping to find some women to present, too.
I got this on another local list (Digital Eve Seattle). Thought I'd pass it on in hopes that someone is interested in doing this (representing Drupal, of course). I can't do it. Hope it's OK to post this. If not, someone clue me in. (gently, please).

Please contact Jodie directly if you're interested.

My name is Jodie Le and I'm writing you because I'm instructing an Emerging Technologies class at Highline Community College this Spring which meets from 4:00pm - 5:30pm on Tuesdays starting this Tuesday through May 31st.

For the class we bring in guest speakers from the industry to speak on a "cutting edge" trend or technology in Web Development. As of now, all of our scheduled speakers are men so I'm hoping to find some female speakers who would be willing to present. I feel it's critical to do so to provide industry role models for the women taking the class.

Some of the topics that have been brought up during our advisory meeting are: Collective Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Soap and Restful. I was wondering if you or someone you know may be interested in presenting on one of these topics or an alternative Emerging technology.
We currently have an Android app development presentation lined up for the quarter but giving the students a view of how to develop for iPhone may be good too. I'm sure the students would appreciate such a presentation if you would be interested in giving one. We are looking for presenters for Tuesday, May 10th and Tuesday, May 17th. Again the presentation would be from 4:00pm - 5:30pm. The presenter could take all or most of that time.

In terms of the audience, the students can range from just interested in the field to semi/very technically savvy. So the presentation would be something simple to communicate/understand & fun to learn about. Our goal would be to encourage their interest in the Computer Science/Technology industry as much as possible. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to e-mail me at jle@highline.edu.
