It has been a long time since I looked at this group and I belief its about time to give some updates.
First the topic is brought and is starting to split up in several sub-topics:
usage of content types:
Depending on the structure, functions and interface content-type can become "good practices" for specific needs. For example forms to get answer to questions, blogs to state your opinion. In relation with our development with cck and node access we could make more powerful content-types like a private-message, a content type that stimulates user2user interaction. At the moment we see a development to create all kind of new content-types this has litle to do with code-development and all with web/community-service
network visualisation:
Visualisation is important as it gives us another way to process data, we could see in a blink interesting relation that would be not so easy when we don(t got the visualisation (like text or tables). This topic is close related to SNA, we have netwerk visualisation demo. At the moment we are setting up sub-project that will be investigating an integration with views.module to power an integrate the visualisation.
the space construction kit:
Based on the experience with CCK we would like to setup something similar for a 'space'. A space is just a generic name for stuff like groups, projects, networks, etc.
Basicly a space has elements (parts) and relation between type of elements (class). The whole spaces idea is to find out what functions are needed in contract to a node to help deploying specific kind of groups etc on the fly.
As a conclusion the topic of this group may be to general, I'm also wondering if the group is alive at all. Please let me know if I'm wasting my time with this posts or not
