I guess hanging out and talk about drupal on a friday evening isn't too desirable- understandable- but 3 of us had a good talk non-the-less.
My favorite part of the talk was about trying to explain just what open source and drupal are to a complete stranger to the topic. Greg and I had a chance to sort of brush on the idea together before my lovely girlfriend joined us(who works Americorp at SJSU) who has very little idea about either. But she has been intrigued enough by my own musings about all the potentials in communicating with drupal, open source software in general, it's implications for the non-profit sector; whos organization(sorry to generalize) is so so poor, that she dropped by to get in on the talk. We likened open source software and also drupal, to a set of legos as opposed to a plastic toy car that locks you into obviously, limited uses. We also brushed on the implications for democracy in society in general, but didn't dig too far into that. Then we started talking about what happens when a rat dies in your wall, and how long it takes for the smell to go away, and how many flies come to feast, etc.... before concluding the meet-up.
We talked about further discussing some of the things we talked about here, so here it is. Has anyone else ever tried to explain what open source software and drupal are to the unfamiliar?
