Have you ever wondered what's it like to start a new web based business? Come out and here the story of Georgia Tech student and Atlanta based entrepeneur, Joy Buolamwani, as she takes you through her journey. Joy could really use the feedback and help of the Atlanta Drupal community to help take her Drupal based website idea to the next level. This will be a really cool presentation, and still offer plenty of opportunities for networking - do not miss out!
SUMMARY
Joy Buolamwini is on a mission to make the college admissions process easier for students and parents by centralizing resources and providing user-relevant information sharing. Joy, a Georgia Tech student, has been working on a Drupal-based site code named "Admissions Conquered" for the past nine months.
Her presentation for DrupalAtlanta users will outline the intended features as well as possible implementations of various aspects of the system, including navigation, personal profiles, social networking, recommendations engine, and UI design. The presentation will take the format of an open dialogue to allow attendees to offer suggestions and input.
Joy is currently a Stamps President’s Scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology where she is doing Google sponsored research building a temporal data tracking system called Salud!. She also has a freelance web design business, www.JovialDesigns.com which she started in 2007 while teaching herself how to harness the power of the internet.
