KC Drupalers,
I am very happy to say that the website is finally up and ready for you to register. The design, header and logo are coming, but for now this will have to do. I had planned on launching it late last week but work, hosting issues, etc have delayed it until today. So once again there will be no meetup this week. However, I can guarantee that there WILL be a meetup next week, see the post below...
Visit http://www.drupalkc.org to become an official member of the group and ensure you stay up to date with group events. If you plan on coming to the meetup please register on the site and and then use the "sign-up" function on the meetup page of the website so I can have an idea on attendance. Lastly, please include a picture in your profile so we can all learn the names and faces of the other members. I am guilty of not having a real photo up but I will today.
July Meetup - Tuesday July 14, 2009
7:30pm @ Longbranch
9095 Metcalf Ave
Overland Park, KS 66212-1403
Drupal, Option or THE Answer?
Our first meetup will be in Overland Park at Longbranch on Metcalf. Twentypixel will provide the first round of beer and soda, the rest is up to you. Check out the menu at http://www.danslongbranchsteakhouse.com/ come out and meet your local Drupal fans, find out about Drupal, tell us why you love/hate Drupal, and help get the KC community of to a good start. I am hoping to have a couple local Drupal converts talk about their recent experience moving to Drupal (both have given me the thumbs up that they can be there). I am going to try to get a projector setup but there is free wifi for everyone so bring your laptops. Anyone who wants to show off a current or past web project is strongly encouraged to do so (Drupal or otherwise). Some really talented KC developers should be in attendance and I would love to hear from you. Beginners have no fear, we will have you loving web development and Drupal in no time. So here is the loose agenda as these are very informal meetups:
Generally a meetup is around two hours long.
First 15 min to half hour: introductions
- Who are you?
- What brings you here?
- What do you do?
- How do you use Drupal?
- What are your websites, what companies do you work for?
Generally catching up.
- Then presentation. This works well if it is from a half hour to an hour.
- Next hour, one of two things:
- Q and A on the presentation
- Branching out into small group discussion. Divide up into several small groups focused on specific topics. For example, there might be small groups on: theming, module development, etc.
Generally, after the two hours, you might order another round at the bar.
