I have found that Drupal provides a very powerful platform from which to empower collaboration amongst physicians, nurses, and other clinicians across departmental, institutional, and geographic barriers.
I have found it most helpful in the leadership and administrative roles that I have taken on. That is, in widening the participating audience for policy discussions and allowing discussions and debate to carry on past the limited meeting time that is typically reserved to guide new initiatives.
I have not yet explored it's full potential with respect to health care delivery, though it's support for such key tools as wikis and custom content lends itself to this possibility.
