Dylan Riordan presents at the September Drupal User group meeting in Portland, Maine:

Introduction to Panels

Panels is a drag and drop layout manager developed by the same prolific architect that brought us Views.
This presentation will cover basic usage of Panels, and how to make it an integral part of your development workflow.
We'll also touch on other related modules from the Panels ecosystem as well as alternate approaches such as the Context module.
How does it all fit together? What is a variant? Um.. contexts??? Don't panic, these questions and more will be answered.
Finally we'll discuss the Blocks and Layouts Everywhere Initiative ( aka: SCOTCH ) of Drupal 8, and why learning Panels now will help prepare you for the future.

About the Presenter: Dylan Riordan has been working with Drupal for five years. As the lead developer at Energy Circle, Dylan runs about 200 sites on a single settings.php file because it seemed like a good idea at the time. Dylan also eats nodes for breakfast.

Location: VTEC Training Center, 1685 Congress Street, Portland, Maine. Directions here: http://vtec.org/about/directions/default.asp
