Rules (http://drupal.org/project/rules) is one of highly used modules in Drupal. The rules module allows site administrators to define conditionally executed actions based on occurring events. Out of the box rules comes with some events, actions and conditions.

The usage of rules module is not just limited to prefined events, actions and conditions. Using rules API one can create custom events, conditions and actions. Some of cool events could be when a node receives lots of traffic, user logs in for the first time, event to capture infrequent user.
