We're Moving

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

The Nashville Drupalers web site will soon be transferring site hosts. For years, since Jamie Meredith founded the Nashville Drupaler's group, we were generously hosted by his Britesparkz hosting. Jamie left the Nashville area in late 2012 to work for Acquia in Boston and is retiring his hosting company. Fortunately, Acquia offers free cloud hosting for established Drupal user groups, so our site will soon be moving to Acquia, as well.

Here's what we get:
• Acquia Managed Cloud infrastructure for our site
• Load balancing, high availability, and built-in redundancy
• Hosted Git repositories for code management
• Development, staging, and production environments

In return, we'll modify our site's footer section to display:
• the following text: “Drupal Hosting powered by Acquia Cloud”
• and an Acquia logo (that we provide)

Not a bad deal at all.

So the reason I'm telling you this is in case you might have any interest in seeing how this transfer will happen. If you're interested in seeing how this works, let me know. We have about 10 days or so before the new hosting space is provisioned and ready for our move. It should be reasonably painless, as our site has been in a git repo since Summer 2011. With that and a DB backup, we should be transferred in no time, and if you're new to Drupal and/or git code management, we could probably do this as a show-and-tell demo in a Drupaler meetup.

Yeah, those... Meetings have been admittedly sparse since last Summer, despite all the stuff on our site about weekly meetups. There's been a lot of changes in the Nashville Drupal community in the last year or two, and the Nashville Drupalers have kinda taken an energy hit as a result. But there are rumors of renewed interest out there, and a desire (by yours truly) to pass the baton.

If you're interested in seeing Nashville Drupalers meeting regularly again (not necessarily every week, though), give a holler (on GDO).
