Lansing Drupal User Group

Today's organizational meeting for the Lansing Drupal Users Group came to the following conclusions:

1. We do want to have a regular monthly meeting, we are aiming for the last Tuesday of every month except November and December.
2. Our first monthly meeting will be at 6:30pm on July 30, 2013 at FAITH Catholic Offices (1500 E. Saginaw St., Lansing, MI  48906).  Subsequent meetings will at times be held at MSU's Main Library Building and possibly other locations.
3. Typical Meeting Agenda:
   1. Module of the Month - A module will be highlighted that is either new or needs hints to fully understand (such as Views, Panels, Context, etc).  The module of the week may or may not be related to the monthly topic. (15 Min)
   2. Speaker concerning the monthly topic. (30 Min)
   3. Freeform question and answer session with speaker, transitioning into questions for the entire group.  (15 Min+ - ?)  During this time people can ask questions of the speaker or ask for advice from the other members of the group concerning challenges they
      are facing.
4. Monthly Topic Rotation:
   
   Each month will focus on a different aspect of Drupal
   1. Development Issues such as:
      1. Database API
      2. Render API/Form API
      3. Module Testing
      4. Integration with other technologies such as JavaScript, JQuery, JQuery UI
   2. Administration Issues such as:
      1. Security set-up
      2. Backup
      3. Migration
      4. Best Practices
      5. Database Maintenance
   3. Theming Issues such as:
      1. CSS
      2. Responsive Design
      3. Object Oriented Design
      4. Creating Themes/Subthemes
5. Kevin Finkenbinder selected as Moderator
6. Kevin has volunteered to give the talk at the July meeting with best practices in accessing external databases.
7. We need a volunteer to present a module of the month.
8. Everyone is encouraged to invite others in the Drupal/PHP/Web Design fields in and throughout Southern Michigan, including:
   1. Jackson
   2. Ann Arbor
   3. North/West Detroit
   4. Grand Rapids
   5. Mount Pleasant
   6. etc.
