Based on the 2013 ESIP Summer Meeting FUNding Friday pitch...
Problem space
It’s difficult for the Science on Drupal community to:
- Find drupal.org issues relevant to science needs (module-based)
- Gauge community needs (weigh issue importance)
- Generate focus on solving topic-specific issues (fix important issues)
Goals
- Flag issues from drupal.org that are important to the science community
- Organize those issues around scientific themes
- For example:
- Semantics
- Data Visualization
- Galvanize and focus community contributions (eg. in code sprints)
Features
Core
- Group for each theme, with:
- introductory content
- group membership / administration
- Issues posted and tagged to themes
- Issues voted up/down
- Filter issues by type (eg. bug, feature request etc.) or status (active, review, rtbc etc.) on drupal.org
- Remove issues when completed on drupal.org
- Discussion remains on drupal.org
Additional
- Integrate with other open source issue tracking platforms (eg. GitHub)
- Issue groups, with a group of sub-issues tied to a parent issue
- Make an install profile for re-use as a distribution
Discussion
- Any interest? Would this be of help to you?
- Where should it live? (domain)
- How do we integrate with drupal.org?
- Should each group have discussion spaces or does this overlap too much with other resources (eg. stack overflow, drupal.org forums)?
- Other ideas? feature requests?
