Join us for our next Drupal User Group meeting, coming up next week!

Tuesday, November 26
Noon - 1:00pm
101 Walter Library

Our focus this month will be how to approach a move into Drupal--not so much the technical side, but rather, what kinds of planning and preparation can make for a smoother process.

Moving a site into Drupal can be much more than a simple content import: Drupal offers many options for structuring and categorizing content, laying out pages, delegating editorial responsibilities, and surfacing different aspects of content and functionality. Each of these options may also come with any number of Drupal-specific limitations and idiomatic implementations.

Miranda Riemer from the College of Biological Sciences; Rebecca Noran and Janelle Nivens from the Academic Health Center; and Alicia Cordes-Mayo, formerly from the Office for Equity and Diversity, will discuss their experiences in moving large established web presences into Drupal. They will share their thoughts on strategies for approaching such a move, lessons learned from their experiences, and other tips and tricks. Rebecca and Janelle will also discuss AHC's preparations for an upcoming Drupal upgrade.

After their opening remarks, our panel will welcome questions, so bring your big lists of what you'd like to know about moving into Drupal.

RSVPs are requested but not required. Send us yours at http://www.saa.umn.edu/dug/rsvp
