About kGroups
kGroups is an implementation of the KINKY framework and can be used to manage group-based collaboration over the Internet.
kGroups provides a number of collaboration and communication tools including:
* file sharing,
* discussion forums,
* blogs (weblog),
* podcasting,
* a Wiki,
* realtime chat,
* instant messaging and presence indication,
* an interface to a mailing list server,
* image libraries,
* bookmarks and bookmark sharing (kBookmarks, link sharing),
* and more.
You can also collaboratively develop shared content online using the WYSIWYG editor, and later use it to build a document in any word processor.

SANTEC's online collaboration environment is powered by kGroups External link, a group-based collaboration system built on the same application framework as the e-learning platform KEWL.NextGen. This site has a rich set of features, most of which are not enabled in order to keep the site simple and easy to navigate.
kGroups External link is a product of the African Virtual Open Initiatives and Resources External link (AVOIR) project and the Free Software Innovation Unit External link at the University of the Western Cape External link. Documentation for kGroups is under development, and will be downloadable from the AVOIR site when it is done.
