PeaceGeeks is a Vancouver-based non-profit organization that works to support grassroots non-profit organizations in developing and conflict-affected areas to leverage technology to advance peace, accountability and human rights. We do many websites for our partners, and realized we were using similar functions and layout over and over

To help scale our work, we created a Drupal installation profile called Amani. Amani had three main goals: 1) the profile should provide out-of--the-box most of the most commons functions requested by non-profit organizations; 2) it needed to have an easy-to-use dashboard for our partners who have very limited experience with technology so they could manage content and perform basic admin tasks; 3) we wanted this tool to include a mapping function that these organizations could use to track issues, incidents, etc. to help advance their work.

With the support of Berghof Foundation, The Jibe, Affinity Bridge and Cheeky Monkey, we launched Amani this past fall and have since have deployed 3 sites that are live, with another 8 sites in developments. This talk will review the development of Amani, and will include a showcase of the first three sites to go live. We will also briefly discuss where we are going next.

Presenters: Renee Black, Mack Hardy, Steve Krueger
