We have an opportunity to finally fix Drupal file extensions once and forever in https://drupal.org/node/7269
The planned move from PSR0 to PSR4 in https://drupal.org/node/2247991 will break many/most patches in the queue.
Syncing the rename of our procedural code files with the change above minimizes disruption and brings similar DX gains for D8.
