At the June 2014 meetup we discussed the possibility of getting better(-value) training, especially for the university in the first instance. This would be supported in part by either OxDUG or an offshoot of it.

People interested

Here's a list of who expressed an interest:

  • J-P Stacey
  • Finn Lewis
  • Karen Leech
  • Dan Duke
  • Maria Young
  • Ben Newton
  • Ben Chad
  • Richard Gruszka
  • Tom Bamford

And volunteered in their absence:

  • Aaron Hirtenstein
  • Hedley Smith
  • Chandeep Khosa

Please add or remove yourself, if this list is not correct!

Initial plan

Colin at Medical Sciences IT might have a list of university Drupalers. J-P to liaise with him to (a) gauge interest and (b) possibly send out a survey to any list he has.

Medium plan

We would need to both get trainers trained - there are courses for this - and establish a training framework. Frameworks mentioned:

  • Open Drupal
  • Acquia certification
  • Drupal Ladder (but that's D8).

We could build our own portfolio of training, but some of these would be good starting points.

Long-term plan

Finn suggested setting up a training co-operative, separate from OxDUG: it's simple (dangerously so, he said) to do so. It's worth discussing, as some structure would help us as a group, especially if e.g. there's modest expenditure or income involved.
