Agenda

Presentation

Come join us as Jason Want, Senior Drupal Developer at Mediacurrent, demonstrates how to leverage Drupal to serve rendered content and JSON to a custom Google Maps Javascript API application. Jason will review how the Drupal content was geocoded using Drupal contributed modules and GeoJSON. Then, Jason will focus on how the content is prepared and delivered to the mapping application by highlighting the use of Drupal’s view modes, Field Formatter API, various hooks, Queue API, Cache API, EntityFieldQuery, Entity API's Entity metadata wrapper, etc. The presentation will focus on preparing Drupal content and delivering it to the mapping application, but will not detail using the Google Maps Javascript API (there maybe a Part 2).

The use case: IDI Gazeley, http://www.brookfieldlogisticsproperties.com/, is one of the world’s leading investors and developers of logistics warehouses and distribution parks near major markets and transport routes throughout North America, Europe and Asia. IDI Gazeley wanted to use their existing content and Drupal platform to present their property portfolio to property brokers and potential clients through an interactive map, which highlights the company’s capacity in key regions and markets via market aggregates of property count, land inventory and available square space.

Discussion

back-end optimizations; php, mysql settings, etc.
