Currently I am looking for developing a Networking site with some customized features.
The site will be having features almost similar to Linked In and some more custom features.
Features include:
- Blogging
- Forums
- Groups
- Connecting People within organizations, similar Linked In
I have been looking into various modules in drupal, which i can use for the above. i found the basic modules for blogging, forums, and groups. But i could not find any modules which are specific to searching people and adding them into your friend list with custom features. it seems that we need to do lot of customizations with the existing modules.
Can anyone suggest which modules i can use for connecting people and sharing the profile information with privacy settings.
I would like to get some inputs and thoughts on the following, before taking the decision on the framework.
- How easy/flexible Drupal is to customize the existing modules?
- What will be the difference in efforts to develop a module in drupal and RoR?
I can live with the scalability & performance issues by the frameworks, since i am looking for something which i can deliver with all the features required within a short period of time and then even think of redesigning the site.
