Only about 1.5% of the people involved in open source are women, leaving us terribly underrepresented. In the Drupal world, we're up to a whopping 7% 10% 17%, which only gets us to awfully unrepresented. ;) This group is for anyone (male, female, or otherwise) who believes that we can do better and wants to help.
So if you:
- are a woman who needs some help/guidance in order to get (more) involved with Drupal and the Drupal community
- are a woman who wants to network and get to know other women involved in Drupal
- are anyone who has ideas on things we can do to help encourage women to participate in Drupal
...then this is the group for you. :)

Drupalista Study Group Turns 1 Year Old!
Our Drupalista Study Group had a 1 year anniversary today! All of our meetings are online. We've had projects such as building modules, Drupal project reviews, various distribution testing (Commons & Commerce), 'guest speakers' (Thank you Rain! & Marek!), tested a variety of online collaboration tools, learned from & have taught each other (right now we are learning about Rules). Our meetings are on Monday nights, but our 'doors' are open always and we can usually count on someone answering questions or sharing tidbits of info throughout the week.

This year's event will be held in sunny San Diego at the Marina Village Conference Center -- just steps from beaches, Sea World, and the Mission Beach Boardwalk.
Thursday is a full day of training.
Friday and Saturday are two full camp days.
Sunday is fun-day with disc golf, beach activities, and sight-seeing

How to recruit women for jobs
Hi Drupal ladies,
I know this group is not for job postings, so I'll keep this to a 'meta' question about recruiting. I'm hiring for a full-time position in Los Angeles (several actually, but all but one are "mostly" filled now) and I've seen very little gender diversity in the candidates that my recruiters and my own HR department are sending me. Certainly less than the 17%. (I've reviewed at least 20 candidates, only one female.)
