Women in Drupal (Formerly DrupalChix)

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Only about 1.5% of the people involved in open source are women, leaving us terribly underrepresented. In the Drupal world, we're up to a whopping 7% 10% 17%, which only gets us to awfully unrepresented. ;) This group is for anyone (male, female, or otherwise) who believes that we can do better and wants to help.

So if you:

  • are a woman who needs some help/guidance in order to get (more) involved with Drupal and the Drupal community
  • are a woman who wants to network and get to know other women involved in Drupal
  • are anyone who has ideas on things we can do to help encourage women to participate in Drupal

...then this is the group for you. :)

Hey there all...

Our Drupalistas Study Group tripled in size this last round (from 5 to 15 !! :) ). We are not a big group, but we ARE having a good time learning Drupal in quick, bite-sized chunks. It has been loads of fun. So much fun, in fact, we are starting another "track" of learning.

Excellent Blogs About Drupal

This wiki page is being created in response to a request for a list of good Drupal blogs on the Women in Drupal outpost on Facebook. There is an uber-list here: Drupal Planet. This is intended to be a smaller list, with a focus on quality, not comprehensiveness. What are your fave blogs about Drupal? Blogs you get the most out of reading? If you've got a fave and it's not here, please add it to the list.

Global Youth Open Source Project - Looking for ideas from kids/youth

Hi,

I'm a long-time Drupalista, but more recently spending the majority of my contribution time as a Mozilla Rep, and Mozilla's Webmaker project teaching kids web and digital literacy.

We're launching (what we think is) the first Youth Open Source project (GenOpen) through our global network of Mozilla Reps running webmaking hackjams, and we need ideas FROM kids about what we should build.

My blog post looking for ideas: http://tiptoes.ca/?p=925

Damned lies and statistics...

Couple of weeks ago I tweeted about some wholly unscientific "research" I'd done. (With much thanks to Jennifer Hodgdon for suggesting a methodology to get at this data quickly)

How to arrange content nodes using content type articles

Is there a way to arrange the order of articles that are "posted to front"? Or in a view? I have a view called Fall Happenings on the left side of this page and it would be nice to arrange the order of these. http://vacountrylife.net/ Am I missing something? TIA! The Fall Happenings is a block but also a view - all of my articles post there as well as in the middle (if I click Post to Front on the article). I have rearranged blocks no problem. I want to rearrange articles in a view or just ones Posted to Front. Has anyone tried Nodeorder Design? That looks like what I'd like to do.

Drupal life after kids

For those who missed it, there's a new addition to the webchick family coming soon. This of course is a time of incredible excitement and incredible terror and all of those things that I believe are natural when one crosses this threshold. :)

But something I've been spending a lot of time pondering about is what my Drupal life looks like post-webchicklet, and how other parents (particularly moms) have handled this.

Let me paint a picture for you.

Begining a virtual co-learning group

Process and recourse when dealing with harassment

As some of you know, I was recently harassed on Twitter by a male member of the Drupal community. I talked to some folks and it was recommended I file an issue to encourage a process be defined for handling situations of harassment in the community. So please give your input and support, I don't want to see this continue to go un-dealt with!
