The mission of this group is to design, specify, and develop all necessary code to integrate Drupal with netFORUM. This is intended to be a base, yet thorough integration with minor customization (primarily theme) for individual netFORUM customers.
Both the customers (funding the development) and the developers are to be a SOON - Self Organizing On-demand Network in co-opetition. Cooperating on the development, then competing for individual implementations.
We need to upgrade from Drupal 5 (launched in 2009) and since we have never done this before I would appreciate any advice or guidance on what I believe our options are.
Option 1) Just do a straight across the board upgrade.
Option 2) Do an upgrade and make enhancements that we have identified as an organization and include our enhancements in the RFP.
Option 3) Hire a developer to do a 2-3 week intense modernization of website proposal. Cost is a concern with this option.
I am no longer associated with CHA - the organization for which I established this group. Further, with my absence, CHA is not currently interested in pursuing this effort. However, I believe it is a useful effort and will continue to support it.

The “Master Program” is the document used to manage every aspect of a Craft & Hobby Association tradeshow. It contains the list & contact information of the vendors and their employees, the requirements for each section of show floor setup as well as that of all education and meeting rooms, and special events.Read more
CHA (the Craft & Hobby Association) is interested in establishing an online, self service application for event sessions. Other customer members are encouraged to add requirements. Where there is conflict, it should be assumed that the result should include a choice between the requested feature(s).
Developer members are encouraged to brainstorm with customer members to completely define the project. Developers are encouraged to join forces with Drupal expertise and netFORUM expertise represented on the eventual development team.Read more

Purpose: Who will use the module for what purpose? Expressed in terms of end result and including any sapecific requirements.
Scope: Expressed in "ideal" total of functionality and use and accompanied by degree of willingness to compromise on some features. Included in the scope definition should be the anticipated number of users both in total and simultaneous.Read more
Shared commitment to our purpose and principles is a critical part of what binds the DruForum community together. The DruForum Commons is a community of individuals representing themselves, and/or a variety of organizational entities. Each individual and/or organizational entity is one of the following classes of stakeholders:
The Organization is the Member and Individuals inherit membership from the organization. Founding and Customer Member types are also Owner Members.
Greetings all & Welcome!
We are getting to the point where I think we should introduce ourselves. Please state your real name, title, the organization you work for, whether you are a developer or netFORUM customer, and what value you hope to obtain from participation in this group.
Correct me if I am wrong about this but the driving point that caused us to get this started is that we wanted to provide an alternative to Avectra's SharePoint offering. Therefore, I think we can agree that one element of the bas functionality is that we are able to easily produce web sites that pull data from netFORUM.Read more
I am conflicted about how we will manage our project. On one hand, there is TUTOS - The Ultimate Team Organization Sorftware - Free Open Source Software (FOSS). This would entail downloading and installing on a web site - either existing or obtained for this purpose. On the other hand, there is Projects On Demand. A hosted solution. Projects On Demand is more familiar to most but the cost (though nominal) is $180 for the first year & $240 thereafter - there is not a self-hosted option.

We currently have 2 developers in the forum; James Michael-Hill, creator of the original Drupal-netForum modules; and Josh McCormack. Any of the Customer members can invite their developers.
Developers, please jump right in and help us identify modules we should be including, comment on the Level Of Effort (LOE) for including modules and the relative value of each module - at least ones you are familiar with. Also, comment on the proposed RAD/Spiral Development process & how we can identify costs so we can actually fund work.

I welcome, and encourage everyone to participate in this discussion. If you do not participate, we can only assume you concur with what we come up with.
I do not wish to impose my thinking on this group, rather I really want this to be a group action. My thinking for the scope of activity for this group is as follows:
I started going through the available modules to create a list we might want to include in the base functionality. The goal of this is to include modules that might be needed my many implementations. I did not even get through all of the A's and might have missed some other mebers would value. Feel free to add your own and/or discuss the value of inclusion of any.

This module allows users to flag nodes and comments as offensive for the adminstrator to review.
The admin can specify which type of nodes are allowed to be flagged.
