PCI DSS compliance for ecommerce
As a follow up from a question at the May 26 meeting, I looked into what it takes to become PCI DSS compliant.
I thought I'd share what I learned. (PCI DSS = Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard)
Summary:
I don't think Ubercart needs to be PCI DSS compliant. However, if you use a partner like Authorize.NET to process the card, you can be considered PCI DSS compliant if you perform and attest to a self assessment.

Saving Credit Card Numbers
Hi,
I am looking a little down the track and I was just wanting to gauge the interest in allowing customers to save credit card numbers for later use.
eWay (and I am guessing others) supports a method which allows users to save their credit cards for later use. Would people be interested in having a feature like this for their customers.
Also (forgetting patent isues) this would be the first step for allowing users to have single click purchasing.
Let me know if this is something you would like.
Gordon.

There is a little organic farm nearby that my wife and I buy a lot of food from. The couple that runs the farm are great people. I started talking to them about their current site and how it was not suiting their needs or doing much for anyone else (prepare yourself mentally and physically before clicking this link http://www.robertsfarm2004.com/).

I have done quite a bit of work over the past few days and I have gotten the new charge system working really great. In actual fact I think that it is working better than I ever imagined.
ATM I have not built all the componets that I want to build, but it is still kicking butt. Also remember this new charging system that has been built replaces shipping, discounts, tax modules and is all pretty much just point and click to build new charges.

So, I made it to the last few minutes of the Churches and Ubercart BoF at Drupalcon DC and may not have the full picture on what was discussed. As such, I'm going to use this thread to just spec. out what I see as the desired solution for enabling church websites (and other non-profit organizations) to take donations online. It seemed like the folks in the BoF were willing to get behind a proposal, fund it, and start implementing it on their various sites.

Read moreDealing with VAT
During Drupalcon Szeged, we spent a lot of time talking about how to handle VAT. Unfortunately I have only a slightly better idea of VAT today as I did before I left for DrupalCon. I would like some input from people in the community who work with VAT on a daily basis.
I'd like to try and answer the following.
- What is VAT
- How does it work
- How should VAT be handled by ecommerce companies inside and outside Europe
Using this information we should be able to support VAT with Drupals commerce systems.
