VIDEO RECORDING tips for cameramen, COORDINATION, EDITION (templates) and PUBLICATION on web

CONSEN's picture

CONSEN - Thu, 2006-08-24 10:34

21th night (social event)
I request a meeting of 5 minutes to list the video-cameras for covering the sessions.
It should be perfect to have three video-cameras from different angles in each session.
9 cameramen in total and 5 sessions of record for day and a total of 10 hours of recording for camera.
At the moment THE VIDEO-TEAM,
Norbert http://www.fuerstentum.net/
Federico http://www.SubMultimedia.tv

agree:

The 22-23 Federico and CONSEN will coordinate the coverage of the three parallel sessions, the video-shoots and interviews of the DrupalCon.org conference, to edit:

Organizing video coverage of DrupalCon Brussels 2006

Good news! There are several people that have volunteered to help out with coverage of DrupalCon, and Norbert Fuerst has offered his services to do post production on all footage through his video production company.

Help with video coverage

Boris Mann's picture

Boris Mann - Thu, 2006-08-17 01:06

I've just posted this request to the front page of the Drupalcon site:

We've already had both Development Seed and CONSEN step up and commit some money at the Silver sponsor level in order to get video coverage of DrupalCon.

However, having looked into getting coverage by a firm that specializes in such things, it looks to be 900EU for one cameraperson for only one day of the conference...which would only cover one room as well. This looks to be too expensive for us.

So, we are looking to the community to come up with some ideas. One person in a comment said they could bring their camcorder, but we need commitment from people to setup and run such coverage.

Anyone have other ideas regarding video coverage?

Other ideas and/or organizing to get full coverage -- please post below.

location accessibility

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a trainstation in the neighbourhood of the SAP Lounge? Or any other public transportation to get there easily?
I checked the site of SAP Lounge but there is no mentioning about this.

Furthermore perhaps someone knows if the car parking mentioned on the SAP Lounge site is free, or if not, the costs to park there?

I havn't booked my plane tickets yet, and I'd be able to book cheaper if I book a package.
So I would like to know where all of you guys are going to stay, and - if possible - book somewhere near.
I plan to stay in the center of the city, but realized that the SAP lounge is outside of the the city.
Any good suggestions?

DrupalCON Europe, call for suggestions

(Cross posted from Drupal.org, comments should be added here.)

As you might know, we try to organize at least two big Drupal events a year: one in North America and one in Europe. The latest Drupal conference took place in Vancouver and attracted more than 150 people! That is almost 6 months ago so a couple months ago we started scouting venues for this year's European Drupal conference. We are pleased to announce that this year's DrupalCON Europe which will take place in Brussels (Belgium), the second half of September (two months from now!). We'll communicate the exact dates and location as soon we have confirmation from the venue -- hopefully by the end of next week.

Free sleeping?

I read at http://wiki.fosdem.org/tiki-index.php?page=FreeSleeping_and_Internet_in that there was free sleeping possible in Brussels and Leuven (~ 30 km from Brussels) in 2005 for fosdem.

Would that be interesting for someones? Does anyone have well contacts?

Now I am confused, too

I thought that "DrupalCon Brussels 2006" would be something like DrupalCon Amsterdam 2005. Isn't it?

Following events take place:

GovCamp 2006 September 15 Friday
Euro OSCON 2006 September 18 - 21 Monday - Thursday
DrupalCon September 21 Thursday
BarCamp September 22 - 24 Friday & Saturday

Is there anyone who can explain me the difference between DruC

going for plan-B

mixel - Thu, 2006-07-13 09:05

Time is not on our side, we have been spending much time on venu. The international press center was close to the center, but quit expensive. The SAP-lounge that offered us there support is even a more beautiful location, but is out of walking distance and worse we are trying to get clarity for 20 days on the location. So I'm going for plan-B. The SAP-lounge is next to my university (vrije universiteit brussel) and I'm making arrangements to organize the conference there, when no clearly on SAP is offered by the end of this month the conference will take place on the university.

So for planning, there will (and shall) be a two days of DrupalCon on 22,23 September.

SAP-lounge

mixel - Tue, 2006-07-04 18:49

Two weeks ago Dries was contacted by Gerard Fauchey with the suggestion to organize the Drupal conference at the SAP-lounge. Last week Bart and I had a look at the place, we where surprised, the place was more than we could hope for. We where especially interested in the open aria and the rooms around it. I had planed to wait with this information until we got a reaction on our visit last week, so for now I can only let you know we are working on it. I'll hope to give some more concrete information, as soon as possible.

What we have in mind so far is to get the open aria and the rooms around it for the Drupal conference and BaCamp for 22-24 while we can have a GovCamp and more general Drupal presentations on Friday 21 on an other location. Also the SAP-lounge is more out of the center, but very close to the Petillion station (tube).

Booth at EuroOSCON

I'm just reviewing the EuroOSCON site, and have the contact to request booth space. Looks like they have made space available.

Has anyone else been in contact? If not, I'll get in touch and see about reserving booth space, as well as promoting it to other communities (i.e. Joomla).

Dates

Boris Mann's picture

Boris Mann - Tue, 2006-05-30 18:46

I want to nail down dates so we can start promoting and organizing around those dates.

  • EuroOSCON goes Sept. 18 - 21st.
  • Friday, the 22nd should be a full day DrupalCon
  • additional Drupal "stuff" -- especially coding related -- should run concurrently with BarCamp, Sat/Sun 23rd/24th

What do you think?

Can we do it at the International Press Centre?

mixel's picture

mixel - Mon, 2006-05-22 13:44

At barcamp Brussels we had an incredibly nice location with a wonderful atmosphere. There is no reason the reinvent the wheel so we (Dries, Ballie and I) got together with the main organizers (Peter and Bart). It would be great to have the conference over there and it seems possible. I just want to create this post to start work on getting the conference there, hope to hear more about the steps from Bart soon.

Task 3: money

Dries's picture
public
Dries - Fri, 2006-05-12 11:45

We need to rent a venue, pay for internet access, coffee, water, refreshments, etc. We could also use some money for t-shirts (or other Drupal swag) and the occasional free beer (as in "free beer", this time). It would be nice if some people could focus on getting us a budget to work with (and what sponsorship plans we can offer), so other can focus on securing a venue, hotels, etc. There is never too much money, so even if it turns out we don't need a lot of money at all, I'm sure that is can be spent! ;)

Takers?

Task 2: finding a venue

Dries's picture
public
Dries - Mon, 2006-05-08 14:32

Based on the discussion in this posting the main focus of this year's DrupalCON should be coding. We want to get stuff done. We don't want to listen to presentations.

At the same time I don't think we should impose limits on what can and cannot be done. Let's try not to lock people out. If some people want to do presentations, why not? I, for one, would be happy to give people an introduction to Drupal, or to spend 15 minutes explaining the CCK. Training new Drupal users, and getting Drupal developers up to speed is important too. Given enough rooms, it shouldn't get in the way of all the hacking.

So, it looks like we need a venue with several rooms. Given enough rooms, people can schedule a room to have meetings, to talk to potential customers, to provide Drupal training, to do ad-hoc presentations (BarCamp style, no advance schedule) or whatnot without disturbing those who want to write code or fix bugs.

Task 1: finding conference organizers

Dries's picture
public
Dries - Mon, 2006-05-08 14:28

As Boris mentioned, I won’t be able to take a lead in organizing this year’s European DrupalCON.

What’s more important than a particular focus, schedule or venue, is finding two or more people who will be the official conference organizers. Without some people “pushing the cart”, it will be very difficult to move forward.

In short: the first task is to find people willing to organize this DrupalCON and to make them the “official organizers”.

(If necessary we can reward the organizers? They get to be a sponsor of the conference (free advertising)? Or we could ask attendees to pay a modest fee which would go directly to the organizers? Just thinking up loud.)

DrupalCon vs. SuperHappyDrupalHouse

Boris Mann's picture
public
Boris Mann - Sun, 2006-05-07 03:40

When I was recently down in the Bay Area, I connected with some Drupal folks and talked about planning for upcoming activities.

Since our last "con" was in North America, if we follow previous series, then the next one should be in Europe.

My personal current plans around this are to organize a DrupalCon around BarCamp Brussels / EuroOSCON 2006 in Brussels. Dries is presenting in Brussels, and Colin Brumelle just got word that his talk on "Music 2.0" has also been accepted.

The "cons" generally are a mix of developer and user work, and we've had lots of presentation-style content. Coding tends to be limited to (sometimes very successfull) hallway and hotel hacking. I think the timing and place of DrupalCon Brussels is probably a good one, but how do we make sure we get some fun hacking in?
