Welcome to the Drupal events working group. This group is for discussion of modules and code related to events, calenders, timezones, and related issues. This is NOT a group for posting about (real or virtual) meetups and similar "events".
Folks interested in this group may also be interested in the Conference Organizing Distribution group, an installation profile for conferences built in Drupal.

Mumbai Druplers,
Would like to thank everyone who attended regional meet. The best part of this meetup was the initiative to involve students, who interacted with peoples from Industry, working on Drupal.Students were really curious to know about Drupal.I am really exited to get student community on-board.

Read moreCalendar && (Search API || Facets)
So I've been tangling with a problem for a couple weeks now. I love the way Search API works. Create a search index, select some fields, create facets on those fields (with Facet API) and you've built up a really neat interface for users to easily gain access to content.
I had the idea to build a calendar with faceted search based on events: one problem. I create a view off of a Search API index that contains only events, but the calendar formatter isn't available.
Read moreWhen should session submission close? (or any other call for submissions)
Drupalcon Munich has a great graph that shows the dates when people submit sessions. Unfortunately (for event organizaers) a lot of it happens at the last minute.

This is a problem for session track chairs because they don't know if they'll have enough good sessions.
Read moreColoring options in calendar settings Year View
Hello,
i'm using drupal 6 and calendar 6.x-2.4, also i'm using the Calendar settings (Legend Terms to colorify my events based on their terms)
i can give a color for each term by using calendar settings then Legend Terms, but i can't see this option in Year View..
it's only feasible in Month, Day, and Week view, but i need it in the Year view...
so how can i extend this feature to be done for the year-view?
Appreciate your help
Read morePlease Help: no calendar events for anonymous, getting crazy with this
Hi
I'm trying to fix this, read dozens of posts and no luck so far.
I want my anonymous users to be able to see upcoming events.
Using Drupal 6.15 + Views + CCK for event type + calendar module.
Everything is perfect if user is authenticated. Anonymous users just see an empty calendar.
Checked permissions and gave anonymous Access Contents inside Node section. Some posts reported this as a possible solution. No luck.
Changed the view and changed Access to "Multiple Accounts" and included Anonymous. Nothing.
Read moreCalendar of Events Recipe for Drupal 6 that really works
A workable "Calendar of Events" for Drupal can be a baffling ordeal to try and get working and usable. Even trying to get a recipe to work can involve hours of wading through patches and comments to get something usable. In an earnest effort to try and reduce the madness, here is a recipe that works very well for our latest project for a client, and includes fixes we developed ourselves.
Read moreEvent with minimum registrations required...
I'd like to start a discussion here regarding some functionality that I am looking for in a Drupal/Ubercart Registration system. The Ubercart registration is not absolutely required, but may allow for easier management of the backend.
I'd like to be able to create events that people can register for, but before the registration is finalized the event must reach a certain threshold of registrants. With that I'd like for the credit cards to be held and batch processed once the threshold is met, and any registrations from then on are run immediately upon checkout.

I've submitted a new module, Date Tweaks, that enhances the Date Module to provide the following functionality
* Adds in Baron Schwartz's date-time javascript functionality
* Maintains the date's duration - so when the start date changes, the end date also changes
* Adds in Willington Vega's dropdown time picker. By default, this timepicker replaces the standard timepicker

This is a community-accessible wiki for the discussion going on at the Custom Meetup Alternative Developers group. This group requires signing up for Meetup.com and joining it to see the threads.

Reference sites
Not sure if they are using the Meetup API or not - it seems out of sync with their actual group - but the design is kind of interesting - very similar to Meetup.com.

Contribute your ideas for a Meetup module in Drupal in the Meetup.com integration module discussion. This page will collate and organize the ideas in which the community seems to be most interested. Over time, it will also break them into rough releases and prioritize them.

Hi all,
This is probably the first post on g.d.o I've actually started! I saw a lot of people using it to collect and organize module-related ideas and figured I would too. So here's the deal.

Read moreBest practices for event registration?
I am converting a WordPress site to Drupal and we currently have an event registration form where you can signup / RSVP for an event. Anyone can go to the form and signup, you don't need to get invited or register on the site. I have looked at the Drupal Signup and CCK Signup modules but neither seems to do exactly what I need. With Signup, it seemed difficult to add custom fields and with CCK Signup, there was some question as to whether or not anonymous users could signup but documentation is lacking for the latter.

I'm tabulating some data from previous conferences to see which system of voting is the best (if any!) and how voting systems were used. This is in part a response to some feedback on our post about the Drupalcon Chicago site and COD where a commenter noted that they dislike a flag style voting.
