Maryland
Are you a drupal user or developer in Maryland? Join us and be informed regarding meetup timing. Why are we a Maryland only group? Considering the closest group for the moderator (admin?) is Washington, DC (2 hours away); it would make sense to have a group dedicated which facilitates meetups in the Annapolis area. On occasion we may choose to meet in Ocean City, Cambridge, or other desirable areas.
Cancelled - June 2009 Meetup
Due to the lack of response, this event has been cancelled!
Hello Maryland Drupal Group members! I noticed how long it has been since we had our last Drupal meetup (I think last September) and decided it was definitely time for another one.
The next Maryland meetup is scheduled for June 17 at 6:30PM at the following location:
Panera Bread
12285 Tech Road
Silver Spring, Maryland 20904
(301) 680-7940
Agenda:
- 6:30 - 7:00 - Introductions
- 7:00 - 7:45 - Theme development presentation by Ron Williams

Are you ready for a MADCamp?
In the months since we successfully pulled off the first Philly Area DrupalCamp (PADCamp) we have had some discussions (most recently at DrupalCon) about whether we should focus on throwing another PADCamp, or whether we should try to work with our neighbors to the North and South of Philly to create a Mid-Atlantic DrupalCamp (MADCamp). I don't have the specific numbers, but at the PADCamp there were tons of people from New York City, Washington DC, Harrisburg, and lots of places in between, so to some degree it was already a MADCamp. What I'd like to try to see for this Camp is a little more regional cooperation and outreach, so I'm curious to know whether anyone from the DC, Maryland, Central PA, NJ, or NYC groups would be interested in helping to make this a reality.
I am proposing that we have the first MADCamp in Philly, due to it's central location on the East Coast and the fact that the Philly group is trying to move the idea forward. However, I'm personally open to hearing ideas for hosting it in other cities, and one of the bigger goals I would have for the Camp is to get more regional cooperation and coordination amongst the groups. I attend NYC DrupalCamps and DC BarCamps (don't think there's been a DC DrupalCamp- has there?), and I've seen many of the same faces at many of these events.
So, if we're going to move forward with this idea, here are some things that need to be decided:
Baltimore and Maryland BoF at DrupalCon
Please join us for a Birds of a Feather session at DrupalCon DC at 6 PM.
Room change: we'll be in 140B
Help shape a Content Types and Views book
I am currently in the very beginning stages of writing a book on Drupal Content Types that will focus on Core, CCK, and Views. I have a first draft of the outline that I am working on. I would love to get community feedback to help shape the book at this very early stage.

COMPANY OVERVIEW
recruiting for usability study at UB
Hey folks, we are in the midst of recruiting people to take part in the next Drupal usability study at the University of Baltimore - http://drupal.org/node/365191.
We're looking for people who either maintain a large website or make a living building sites (ie, spend a large percentage of the week on it). If you live in the Baltimore area and are interested in taking part, consider signing up. Sessions will take place February 25 - 28 at UB. A session is an hour and a half, and participants are paid.
Baltimore Area User Group
The time has come to get a Baltimore Area Drupal Users Group together. People keep telling me they would love to work with Drupal but cannot seem to find many developers or resources in the area to get them started and help them feel supported. DC is just too far for some people to go during the week.
I am interested in leading regular meetups in the area and have several sponsors willing to donate meeting rooms, wireless access, projectors and other goodies. Wondering what people think about the following questions:
Drupal Developer | Elevatid
We are looking for an expert level Drupal Developer to help with various Drupal projects including E-Commerce module powered websites. Candidate must know and understand all parts of Drupal including Views, CCK, Blocks, Pathauto, Menus, Content (including products for E-Commerce), etc.
We hope to turn this in to an ongoing relationship for current and future Drupal related projects.
Documentation Sprint: DC Doc Love
Let's get together and whip up some Doc Love. We'll meet for 3 hours at the DC Public Library to work on Drupal and then, if folks are interested, we can go out for food and drinks after. We have a medium meeting room (A-9) reserved from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sat. November 8. (For directions to the room, see below in the Where? section.)
Looking for Baltimore/DC Area Developers
My consulting firm is expanding and taking on new development projects and we're looking for Drupal developers who have experience with media companies, publications and non-profits specifically.
Please drop me a line here or http://goforwardmedia.com/contact.html
Please include links to your company or personal web site and URLs of your Drupal portfolio
Thanks

DC Doc sprint
As some of you may know, I've been neck-deep in Drupal's Doc team work. The doc sprints that we have had at the last two Drupalcons have been a ton of fun and very productive. I'd like to run a local sprint down in DC sometime before the end of the year. The basic idea that I am thinking right now is to find a location that will let us camp out with wifi for about 4-6 hours on a weekend. I'd be there the entire time but others could just drop by as they had time. I'd be there to help folks get situated, find docs tasks that they find interesting and generally answer questions.

Baltimore Drupal Meetup
UPDATE: I have moved the venue to Red Emma's
Original description, with updated address, below:
Freelance Drupal help | Village Commons Community Center
An old client of mine, Village Commons Community Center (VCCC), in Gambrills, MD is looking for some freelance help on the site. They are a small local organization that rents out community space for events. It was one of the first Drupal sites I ever built and is still on 4.7. They are looking for someone to do an upgrade as well as do some functional tweaks to the site. Ideally, they can develop a relationship with someone so as they need things in the future they will have a reliable person who knows the site to step in.
Drupal Expert | Elevatid
Elevatid needs a developer to integrate Drupal with an existing website. The site is currently under development and has been coded with XHTML & CSS. We need a CMS developer who knows their stuff. There is another project directly after this.
