Seeking a Free Lance Drupal Developer for Newspaper Website
I'm working with a small radio station that currently has a daily e-news paper and adds news to their website manually using Dreamweaver.
We are considering Drupal CMS, and believe this module seems to have what we need to create the site we are looking for:
http://theopensourcenewspaper.org
We are looking for any recommendations for a developer that has experience with the module and would be able to help us transition the site over to Drupal.
Thank you for any help / guidance in this matter.

I need help for my news site www.assamtimes.org - a nonprofit venture - if I am using a bad theme (bad coding/loops) or a bad module.
After I upgraded to D7 a year back, the site became CPU hungry (or is it normal!)
- At this point we have a max of 15 articles posted per day.
- I have also disabled the default search.
- with .htacces, I have blocked bad referrers - which I suppose added extra load
- right now using the basic TMA theme
- reduced google news bot crawling rate
- I am also looking for a lowest (cost) possible, but high performance hosting.
Successors to Open Publish?
Since Phase2 has unceremoniously dumped Open Publish, what are some alternative distributions for publishers?
1) Nodemaker -- https://drupal.org/project/nodemaker
Started with promise -- especially since it was tied to the launch of ThemeGeeks, Himerus' premium Omega theme company.
Sadly, Nodemaker has seen almost no development since about the same time Phase2 gave up on OP.
Also, Theme Geeks hasn't launched yet. It was supposed to launch this time last year. Best thing about Nodemaker was that it was Omega based -- so it fit fairly nicely with OP.

Advertisement 6.x-2.2 module - I am having problems posting articles to Facebook. Instead of attaching the main image of the article to the post or no image, it's automatically attaching the tile ad images from the article page to the Facebook post. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to prevent this from happening. Recent changes in Facebook no longer gives the option to select "no image". We're also using the OpenPublish packaged distribution 6.x-1.16.
Read moreIs anyone familiar with the web widgets module?
I'm just wondering if anyone here has used the web widgets module being developed by Phase II technologies on a Drupal 7 site? (http://drupal.org/project/web_widgets)
It's still in the alpha stages, but I wanted to see if someone could share their thoughts on its use. Being able to export content from a Drupal site via embedable widgets would have lots of value for a news site.
Does it worked well?... Is it easy to export/embed?... How is the styling was handled?..., etc...
Thanks.

Newspaper Themes for Drupal 7
Hi,
I own a small hyperlocal news website and have a limited budget.
I am using Open Publish 3 and was using the Gazette theme that came with it, but people didn't seem to like it very much.
Since then, I've bounced around from theme to theme and I've been unsatisfied.
Most premium themes cost about $40 to $80. I'm willing to pay $300 or more for a good one that has ample space for advertising slots.
I've decided that dynamic display blocks are really over rated. I'm just looking for an attractive, newsy-looking theme that is easy to customize.
Read moreHow to keep views slideshow from switching when playing video?
I've created a views slideshow with photos and videos, but when I play the video, the slideshow switches to the next slide before the video gets a chance to finish. How do I keep the views slideshow from switching slides when a video is playing?
I tried to set the slideshow to "pause on click", as opposed to "pause on hover", but that doesn't seem to help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Inject Ads into Teaser List
I am looking for a module or method to inject banner ads (these would be direct sales banner ads, sold and placed by the site owner, not Google Adsense ads, etc.) into a teaser list at a certain spot in a teaser list (for example, the default front page when Articles are promoted to the front page). For example, I would like a banner ad to appear after the third teaser listed on the front page.

Has anyone out there had any experience with banner ads on a responsive web design on Drupal? I've started on a project assuming there was a solution to this, and it seems as though this is a subject in flux, since banner ad sizes are traditionally a fixed height and width.
If anyone out there has any experience on solutions, I would appreciate hearing about it. I am assuming that the revenue model has to change. Thoughts?

How to place different ads on articles from different sections
Does anyone know how to place different ads on specific sections of articles?
For instance, I plan to sell sports article ads to certain businesses and obituary ads to other business.
I am using SimpleAds.
I have tried cloning Article Detail Page in Context, calling it Sports Article Detail, and then adding the Sports Taxonomy but that did not work.

Google Fonts is an absolutely awesome collection of web fonts that you may use in your HTML web pages without any restrictions.
These fonts not only look more beautiful than the common typefaces like Arial and Verdana but they are more readable as well since the fonts have been designed specifically for the web. Also, all Google web fonts are offered under the Open Font License meaning you may use them even in commercial projects without having to worry about licensing issues.
