hello
i would like to thank the g.d.o team for his great moderation job....
your shower is cool but so cold.

i have created a group related to a new module with the same name as the module one.
the group was rejected after few weeks telling me that discussion about modules groups should be in the module's queue list...

then, i have created another group about the global subject that the module integrates : "OpenSimulator"
OpenSimulator is an open source server system to manage 3d immersive virtual worlds compared to secondlife.

secondlife is a trademarked name owned by a private company that don't even allow the use of their name.
opensimulator is an opensource project. (http://opensimulator.org)

i am one of the 2 persons making opensource things for opensimulator and drupal.
the opensimulator group began to grow and we began to gather people to define a standard to use drupal and opensimulator.
the group was a meeting point with drupal users and opensimulator users.
we had the luck to have a famous virtual world university chairman with us.

on today, the group was deleted....
all the infos went to the trash...
we are homeless now...

the reason said was : "no answer since june read the groups guidelines"
what answer ? from what question ?
i have not received a question.
the group was in the guidelines rules.
i thought 'cool they said nothing wrong so the group will be allowed"

should we use google groups and leave drupal groups for tradenames ?

please, read the groups you are deleted...

edit :
i understand that you need to filter groups, i just regreat the lack of communication.

i know that the drupal community is cool, but in this case, i think that it was a misunderstanding.

i have read again the guidelines and i think that my case is in : "working group coordinating on a Drupal feature, module, or distribution"
the word "features" is ambigous (the module "features" ? a function ?...)

i remember that someone asked me if there is a Drupal module linked to this group.
i answered yes (there is no code inside the project for the moment because this is a set of several modules in a "not fixed architecture" step, and i am not able to play with cvs tricks to remove files, move folders etc... so, im using github hoping that one day Drupal will use another vcs system or the day that we have found the good architecture for the project)

i also asked if there is a place to follow the moderation messages exchanges
the only answer was few monthes later : refused because no answer

in the "group guidelines" page, it says that the group will not be available to the others until moderation approved.
one of the problem was there also.
the group was available to anyone and we began to exchange ideas and some people began to be interested about the subject and joined the group.
maybe you can try to make corrections about these 2 subjects.

for the moment, i think that i will take the thing on the other side : not "drupal for opensim" but "opensim and cms/frameworks" in an external group, like this we will be able to speak about every cms and opensim :p (Drupal too for sure because i have not planned to use another one)

i regreat to expose my problem in public, but i wanted to tell what i think and don t know where to tell this to the moderation team.

what about the games?

There is already a group for games - why not just join that group and discuss this idea there?

metaverses are not

metaverses are not games

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaverse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CijdlYOSPc

they can be a game for you if you think that facebook is a game....or real life is a game...

metaverses are using a set of tools (chat, groups, friends, scripts, 3d modeling...) with a 3d interface, that's all :)

some people use them as games (you can have games inside of metaverses, like you can have games in facebook)
some people use them as collaborative tools (some universities colleges, ibm, intel, microsoft...)

edit :
the problem is not to debate if openmetaverses are games or not, the problem was that i mentionned in the post edit about the moderation process, that there is a lack of communication and a cold expeditive answer like not coming from a human.

thanks for the feedback

The moderators have to review dozens of these and it's not a very easy job for them. That said, we should always strive to be helpful to people proposing groups.

Can you re-propose this as a more generic topic for "Metaverse"? That seems reasonable to me as a group and we can get that approved.

hello and sorry for the delay

ssm2017 Binder's picture

i have submitted a group called "metaverse".
i was waiting for the usual moderation way and going on my scripts during this time.
the d7 coming is pushing everyone to speak everywhere so i think that we need a place to meet now.
do you agree to accept this group please ?
if someone in the audience disagrees with it, tell it now :)
edit : group 'metaverse' created on 2010-10-22

approved !!! :)

hello
the metaverse group has been approved on today.
i would like to thanks a lot the person who pushed the button on and all the g.d.o moderation staff.
i hope that the group will be a good place to meet and make a better drupal / metaverses integration.
thanks again
