Too bad, so sad
Hey Seattlers, I was trying to juggle around my other plans and get down there for the camp, but it's just not looking like it's going to happen. I gave up my spot so another Drupal nerd can prosper from the awesomeness. ;-) I hope it goes great, and I will surely miss out on an awesome time! Might head down to Seattle later on in the summer for a few days, and will definitely get in touch in case anyone wants to meet up and geek out (or have drinks or something more civilized)!
Till then...
Maybe...
I may try to make it over from Montana. Need to do the gas math or look into the train...
DrupalCamp Alberta
You're from Montana? You could also look into attending DrupalCamp Alberta just north of you in Lethbridge.

I had no idea until you
I had no idea until you mentioned it. It's so close that I really should go, and probably will...
Thanks!
What if I can't make it.
Drupal is my hobby and I am a relative newbie. What level are the sessions aiming to serve? Assuming it is applicable, I would love to make it to the Friday session especially. However, I am an electrical engineer and have no idea how busy I will be at the end of the month. Is it ok to sign up if I might not be able to make it. Also, Saturday looks to be a lot less structured. Do you think this will be useful if I am not able to make it to the Friday sessions? I did not see an associated cost. Is there a per person fee?

Friday will be the much more
Friday will be the much more introductory day, to be sure. Saturday will be more advanced.
we are going to ask people to confirm their registrations about 10 days to 2 weeks in advance, and at that point we would like to know that everyone registered is planning on coming so that we can open up space for anyone who may want to come.
There is no cost, except, perhaps, a cost associated with lunch. we are working to determine that.

Still open to session ideas?
Are you still open for session proposals? It's not clear from the wiki page what's proposed and what's confirmed. I'm thinking about something like "the drupal way" of altering core or existing modules with hooks and without hacking.

Well most of our talks in the larger rooms are set, but we do have a room for Birds of a Feather gatherings (BOF). If you are interested in giving a BOF, feel free to let me know or just you can sign up for BOF time in the morning each day of the camp.

Drat. Seemed like a good time. My spot is free.

Apologies - I thought I could get to it but I can't. It's a shame as I was looking forward to it a lot.
I did not sign up at http://seattle.drupal-camp.org, but was signed up on this list (now cancelled). Hopefully this will free a spot up for another camper on the wait list. Have a great DrupalCamp.
have to cancel...
Moving houses that weekend, bad timing, so someone take my spot!

Congratulations! I think being a new dad might be a wee bit more important than DrupalCamp. Still, if you can make it, we'd be glad to have you!

First Timer
This will be my first Drupal Camp. I was thinking of bringing my laptop with me. I was wondering though, would it be helpful to have a fresh working copy of drupal installed with some of the modules that will be covered, or is it easier to watch and listen to the demo's? I am very new to Drupal and hope to soak up as much as possible. I am currently working on two different drupal projects. One being a family website and the 2nd a more challenging company intranet. The real challenge is that I have NO programming backgroung and I've grown up in the window world. My family site is running on a hosted linux platform, while the intranet will be (sor far) running on a windows server platform.
Drupal Camp
I intended to follow along with some sessions at Drupal Camp Vancouver with a fresh Drupal install but found it difficult to keep up. I found it easier to take notes and then apply what I learned to my Drupal install in between and after sessions. Definitely check out Jennifer's CCK/Views sessions, at your level they would be most helpful and applicable right away in your projects with little if any coding. I just finished a corporate intranet gig with Drupal running on a Windows server. (their idea, not mine) Hope to meet you this weekend, we can share ideas.
Ryan
Look forward to it!
I have the choice of building a lamp server or running in the windows realm. I know windows the best so I feel comfortable there. One of my biggest holups right now is the LDAP integration. I'm trying to build on Drupal 6.x and the LDAP integration hasn't kept up.
LDAP
I used LDAP integration on my last intranet site. Integration was pretty straight forward, though I built on 5.7
I'm all for trying to build sites in Drupal 6, but if the module you need works with 5.x, just go with 5.x. Most of us are still using 5.x. for most projects anyways.
Will look into it...
Having worked in a regulated industry for the last four years it's difficult for me to run a program that I know has vulnerabilities, especially security related ones. Where I work, my network is audited internally and externally for just such items. The old adage of "if the network is up and running and everyone is happy you're doing a great job" just doesn't fly here. You have to prove everything here.
Place to stay for out of towners.
I've got a guest bed at my place if any out of town Drupal campers don't want to shell out for a hotel. It's nothing fancy (subdivision of my living room), but it's free. I'll be at the camp Friday and Saturday, so the ride to/from is covered if you need it. Just send me a message if you're interested.
