Amazon South Lake Union Campus 421 Boren Ave N Seattle, WA 98109

421 Boren Ave N/426 Terry Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109

Learn about Drupal and meet local Drupal enthusiasts. We meet from 6 pm until 7:30 pm, then reserve the last half-hour for proper socializing, snacking, and further discussion at a local pub. Last month we went to the Southlake Grill (near REI) which as a block further than Patty Coynes, but I think we all enjoyed it more, so we will plan on that.

Coworking will be a block away at Moka Coffee around 3:30pm.

Agenda

  • Brief One Breath introductions
  • DrupalCon Session Proposals -- what did you submit?
  • Lightning talks
  • problem/solution breakout session: 30 minutes. Please post your problem in the comments below before the meeting.

If you want to add items to the agenda, please leave a comment.

Breakout topic: Barnraising/Dojo project

See background discussion:

Suggested topics (30 minutes):
- Setup wiki with scribes to capture meeting notes.
- Outline common/uncommon objectives between barnraisings and Dojos
- Outline major steps for B/D project with a floating timeline
- Discuss best practices for a combined B/D project
- Designate interim communication channel(s) for B/D project
- Action items before the next meeting (in no particular order)
-- Find candidate client(s) for barnraising - preferrably with requirements that fit timeline
-- Find venue(s) for B/D project with preliminary dates
-- Setup project platform to assign & track tasks
-- Idententify technologies for conferencing/capturing/documenting B/D project
-- etc.

2nd meeting tentative topics:
- Get consensus on
-- Venue(s) and frequency
-- Final products for the Dojo
-- A barnraising client
-- Best practices for B/D project
-- Technologies for B/D project
- Formalize client requirements (1st draft)
- etc.

Planning meetings should start with a draft agenda and end with action items. Once people get their grooves on, the meetings will be sprints for requirements/architecture/design/installation/configuration/theming/testing/recording/documenting/testing/testing/drinking ;-).

Great topic

Thanks for putting this summary together. Sounds like a great opportunity to get moving and grooving on some good for learning Drupal/good for the community projects.

Problems for Breakout Session

drtrueblue's picture
  1. I'm trying to develop a clean UI that involves a panels page, quick tabs, mini panels and views. However, quick tabs functionality is significantly limited when using quick tabs set to ajax loading. Are there other proven methods to set up tabbed pages with ajax loading? Perhaps there is a better approach for a clean UI altogether. I will be happy to show the use case at the meeting.
  2. If quick tabs remains the best approach, the challenge I'm having is using the views UI default php code to pass arguments to quick tabs set as ajax? Is there a workaround to pass the arguments outside the views UI that could still be passed to quick tabs with ajax loading?

Wanting to learn more about Drupal

bnl's picture

Hi! I volunteer for a non-profit and we want to completely redo the website and we decided to go with Drupal for better maintainability (the two prior incarnations of the website were hacked together and utterly unmaintainable). I plan to attend to see what I can learn. See you tomorrow!

Lightning talk

If people are interested, I could do a quick talk about some htaccess fu I've been doing lately -- such as forwarding an old drupal site to a new one, while still allowing administrative access to the old one.

htaccess

Let me know if you're still having htaccess issues; I can usually figure them out.

Odds are I will not be able to make it tonight; but here is a new module I just created last night.

CVS didn't grab the file I had inside the handlers dir so pull in from CVS or wait 4-5 hours from the time of this post for the lastest dev to get re-packed.

One more I created last week that might be of interest as well:

Drupal & IE6

adwyer's picture

I have a client who's website was done in Drupal, I was able to finish the website with the help of Jennifer, but we have found a navigation button that doesn't line up with the other button on the welcome page. This client is still using IE6. In newer versions the navigation lines up just fine. I did suggest to him that he needs to up date IE. Any help would be appreciated.

Non-Profits

I also am a member of a non-profit organization. We are in need of help in setting up a new Drupal website. Our current site was done in html and css. The website committee met last week and came up with some good ideas and like what they are seeing with Drupal.

The theme they would like to use is the Simply Modern Theme. I have downloaded it and Drupal 7 to my computer. What is the next step to set up the site correct? We have free space at DreamHost for non-profits and as far as I can tell it is ready to use.

You talk of having a barn raising for a website. It would be great to have that kind of help in getting this job done. We can use all the help that we can get.

Any ideas are appreciated.
