It's a bit of a commute, but I can imagine it's a great idea given your weather for months to come. ;)
FWIW, you might find some help closer to you in the meantime. There are two groups nearer that might also help you out: Chicago and Central Illinois. Watch to see if Chicago group has a meetup coming soon?
Even if you connect with the local groups, we also welcome you here! Keep an eye on our link above for details as they form. Perhaps you'll be able to bring new skills with you when you come out.

Drupal Camp vs. DrupalCon
Hello judico,
I certainly salute your efforts to promote Drupal in Hawai'i and was pleased to recently find Drupal activity at UHH. However, please be careful with terminology. Drupal Camps take place all over the world, DrupalCon is a twice-a-year event. There is a push to increase the frequency of DrupalCons including the efforts of the DrupalCon Asia-Pacific Organizers (DCAPO). Back in 2009 I proposed DrupalCon Honolulu although it never developed any interest. But again I applaud your efforts and would certainly be interested in attending (and possibly helping to organize) a Drupal Camp Hawai'i. Mahalo!

Ironically, I am currently located in Chicago. In addition to DrupalCon Chicago and the previously mentioned Chicago and downstate groups there is also the The Fox Valley Drupal Meetup Group in Chicago's western suburbs.

I'm actually not in Chicago
I'm actually not in Chicago anymore. I live in Hawaii now. It was a nickname I picked up surfing out here because Chicago is really known for its waves.. lol.. Certain times I wouldn't mind being back in Chicago and this situation is a perfect example.. Not many Drupal resources out here. Oh Well, it's the price you pay to live in paradise.. lol..

I am currently in Honolulu and I'm not sure if I am attending DrupalCon Chicago or will be on island. If I am on island I would definately be up for meeting to talk shop about Drupal. What are you guys thinking about? Watching streaming talks, etc from Chicago?
