Faced with a bigger demand for Drupal developers than even last year... the Los Angeles Drupal Users Group has decided to throw our second annual free community training session to improve the level of Drupal Development in Los Angeles. • Designers: Theming, theming, theming, best practices and examples, some overlap with Dev. track.
  • Beginner / Site Admins (Non-Technical): The more accessible side of Drupal. Site setup and configuration, user roles, adding modules, content creation, SEO. Beginners welcome!

Sponsorship

we still need more sponsors to help with Wi-Fi costs, which is not cheap!!!

  • Three levels of sponsorship are available $500 & $1000, and our community helpers can donate $100. Need sponsors to cover costs such as rentals, food, supplies, etc. Keeps food at venue (& people at venue).
  • T-shirts ~$1000 (can be multiple sponsors). If we want t-shirts will need sponsorship, design, and someone to head the effort.

Volunteer Info

  • Need room leaders (people in charge of a room and the projector for a period of time)
  • Need room helpers (people to help the room leader, and assist the presenters as needed)
  • Need registration booth/table people (get people to sign-in as they arrive)
  • Need other volunteers for other tasks. As a volunteer you will be guaranteed entrance and would be required to assist for a period of time which wouldn't be too long, just helpful.
  • Need projectors (2) and projection screens (3).

  • Mona
  • Senpai (I have a lot of experience in the technical production field and would be willing to coordinate video and audio needs for all rooms.)

The 13th and 14th looks good for us, we should be able to bring up a good number of our group, couple of presenters and offer some help in sponsorship if needed. Crystal, I'll reach out to you on this.

I vote Sept 13-14, but mainly just cause everyone else was voting for it. Any time works for me. Also, I'm open to help with any planning or event management. Just let me know what you need.

September 20-21

lauramba-gdo's picture

My vote is Sept 20-21 since it is not so close to labor day. Let Jack and I know what we can do to help.

Sept. 13-14 looks like the Winner

CrystalWilliams's picture

Hi all, thanks so much for the feedback!

Looks like September 13-14 is our best option.

If it's ok with everyone and doesn't cut into presentation time, we can discuss a few of the tasks that need to happen in order to make this all work at the meeting this week.

Also, if you have venues in mind - go ahead and ping them! It would be great to know what our options are as early as possible. Same goes for potential sponsors.

Cheers!
Crystal

No problem

Chris Charlton's picture

Shouldn't be a problem to cut in the night to talk the camp out.

It's the only weekend i can't make it. :-(

Cherry Hill is in as a sponsor

highermath's picture

At least at the cheap seat level. Possibly for a portion of the t-shirt, as well.

I would be happy to do a session, as well as volunteer to help in any way I can.

I think that AOL is a great venue, if it is available.

WorkHabit will sponsor as well

senpai's picture

We're in as a sponsor! Chris, I'll send you and Crystal an email and get you to hound J Lambert until he forks over the cash.

Volunteering

SpriteGF's picture

Nice, a Drupal Camp! I'd love to do a session on social networking sites in an academic environment, or an introductory Drupal session. Also available for design volunteering as well.

oops posted on other

dgarzila's picture

If you guys still need a venue I should know tomorrow if I have the Los Angeles convention center.

Just a room or two. Knowing the popularity of the drupal, We might wind up with tons of sponsors . but we only have less than two months until your drupal camp LA.

If it is free and open to the public; fees waived.

But there are other costs associated with the use of it.

Printed Material

Benno Sebastian's picture

Hi Everybody,

I am happy to donate some printed material to the upcoming Drupal Camp LA in September. I am not sure if I can afford the full $500.00 But I am happy to help out with a banner, post cards, business cards, workshop hand outs, t shirts, design work and such. I really like our monthly meetings. And little by little I am learning more how Drupal works. The LA Drupal Group really rocks!! Thanks Chris for putting it all together.

Great to hear

Chris Charlton's picture

Great to hear, Benno. We'll hit you up with what we'll need for our wonderful camp. ;)

Thanks.
