Drupal Café

January 16, 2012 is Worldwide #JELLYWEEK in North America and at Droplabs we're celebrating with a day of coworking (or jelly, as they call it in Australia). You're invited!

Droplabs is happy to take part in Drupal Coworking Friday, a worldwide event spurred in part by the DrupalEasy Podcast #65 which featured Droplabs. We're in Downtown Los Angeles and are happy to host anyone in our local community or who is just passing through for some coworking on the last Friday of each month for some coworking. This event is free!

While every day is a Drupal coworking day at Droplabs, we're doing something different on Drupal Coworking Fridays and will provide light food and drinks all day. These are being hosted by Blake, Christefano and Paul, a few of the Droplabs founders.

After the day is over, a group of us will go to a nearby restaurant or pub. In the past we've had beers and a bonfire and were serenaded by Skrillex. We've also gone to a variety of other locations, including Barbara's at The Brewery (at 620 Moulton Ave., just a 5 minute walk away) and Carnitas Michoacan (on 1901 N. Broadway, just a 5 minute drive away).

About Drupal Coworking Friday:

• Proposed date: Last Friday of each month
• It takes place in your local city
• Anyone can start/host one
• Focused on Drupal Professionals (freelance, fulltime, part time, in office, home, etc.)
• This is not a meetup, code-sprint, BoF or presentation
• Attendees would still do their regular work/calls/etc
• Other Drupal folks would be there to talk to, collaborate, advise (and likewise for the attendee)
• Ideally, an entire section of the space will be dedicated for Drupal professionals

Brewpal in the LBC = Long Beach, Micro Brew, Drupal, free wifi

A few of us local to the LBC are going to meetup at Belmont Brewing Company. The Belmont Brewing Company opened in 1990 and is Southern California's oldest operating brewpub. They have a good menu typical of a brewpub, as well as a full bar with guest beer & wine. Please come prepared to pay for what you order and with an appetite to eat, drink, and share Drupal.

Following the interest shown since the DrupalCamp LA 2010 keynote, the last two LA Drupal meetups and the great discussion at http://groups.drupal.org/node/100049 a group of us are checking out spaces for a coworking / hackerspace. Our first site visit is to Big Art Labs on Wednesday (Groundhog's Day!), February 2, 2011 at 1pm.

While this space will be open to all our friends in the LA Drupal community, this is not an LA Drupal-funded endeavor. If you're interested in a place where creative and technical people gather for a Drupal meetup or Drupal Café every day and the occasional Drupal After Dark at night, then join us and help make this happen!

We're having coffee and talking Drupal on Thursday, November 11th, 2010, at Northstar Coffee Company in Santa Barbara. This isn't a regular meetup or working meeting but some of Santa Barbara Drupal's members will be there and you're invited!

Drupal Café meetings are casual get-togethers, usually in the daytime at coffee and tea shops. They're often spontaneous and without much planning, but sometimes have a specific agenda or focus.

There aren't any predetermined topics this time around. It's an exciting time to be in the Drupal community, though, and we're sure to talk a little about all the events happening in California (BADcamp, next week's Santa Barbara Drupal meetup, SANDCamp, Drupal Everywhere, Drupal Design Camp LA, etc.).

The Drupal 7 critical issues are now below 20. Even there is no beta release yet it seams we have a very stable alpha. Starting October 6th 2010 we will start a weekly Hollywood Drupal workshop (Wednesdays) which will focus on Drupal 7. Like the name says, it's in Hollywood in my back yard.
