Cafe refugees, freelancers - NDG co-working space - 5-7 open house
Hey Drupalites, might you spend less money contributing to a collective working space than buying a latte every day? Does cheap coffee, good telecommunications, a productive work environment and interesting office mates sound attractive to you?
The Northcliffe Square is having an open house on August 6 17:00-19:00 for general amusement and to possibly attract new members. Facebook event here. No need to RSVP.
We're located at 2000 Northcliffe, suite 219, a stone-throw from Vendome metro.
These are our membership levels.

The Northcliffe Square is a collectively run office space on the corner of Maisonneuve and Northcliffe in NDG. A group of people involved in The MUCS Project, US-El Salvador Sister Cities, The NDG Barter Network and Typeleft Publishing founded the Northcliffe Square in October 2006 and designed and renovated the space as a multi-purpose NDG community hub providing private offices, public computer workstations, a meeting room, a lounge, and a commercially equipped kitchen.
All renovation work was done by the founding members and other NDG residents using old wooden doors and other recycled and reclaimed building materials. The finished project is a draw to other NDG organizations seeking affordable office or event space and the evolution of the collective management of the space provides a valuable model for the design and development of commercial spaces in the future MUCS building.

Glad to learn about this
Glad to learn about this space. Can't make it tomorrow, going to the airport... I will keep an eye out for next time. Are you familiar with Station C (co-working space), Koumbit (Drupal non-profit shop / association) or the plans for a Geek Montreal space?
yeah!
Yeah I know a few of the Koumbit members. I really admire its principles and will eventually have some time to learn more about it.
I've only heard of Station C, haven't been there yet - but I should definitely check it out so that we can learn from eachother.
Geek Montreal has, and hopefully will continue to host some events in the Northcliffe Square, partly because it's so convenient for me, but also because I think it benefits from the family friendliness and diversity of folks here as much as we enjoy their crazy RPGs and projected MAME :). Hopefully events at the new space will be just as accessible.
Sorry...
... I couldn't make it. I don't know if anybody showed up, but if not, please don't give up... plan another one... or come to the next one... whatever it takes to help animate the local Drupal community. :-)
