Installing basic modules ...
... and get them to work.
I'm a newbie. (Worse, I'm a content person.) I'm just trying to install basic modules and having a hell of a time doing it. I've tried getting TinyMCE and FCKeditor to work ... and have gotten so close I can almost taste it. But so far ... I've always failed. This is getting discouraging. So a little help would be great. I'm sure there's something basic I'm not doing right, but what it is, well, I dunno.
Best,
Michael
Unfortunately installation
Unfortunately installation of the wysiwyg editors is one of the more complex tasks you can take on, especially as a n00b. I've been writing code for 10+ years, and I still have to go at TinyMCE three or four times before I finally get it right. Hopefully someone can give you a hand at the cowork today (I won't be able to make it unfortunately.)
TinyTinyMCE
I've had pretty good luck using that to get rolling. There's still a lot of fussy configuration to get the toolbars just right, but for just getting it started I've been happy.
(A "d'oh!" thing I've run into a few times: make sure you've got TinyMCE (or FCKeditor) itself downloaded from the app's site and copied into the right folder inside the module. It's a non-obvious problem that can be a total PITA.)
Auto configuration
I used to wrestle with this all the time then I was put onto this module.

I tweack it a bit to get exactly the configuration I want but this always gets me through that hard first part of configuration.
